I'm fabricating a 10x4 foot folding ramp attached to my 4x4 so I can use my 1000lb Walker for walks. The hinge at the bumper is the standard rod in pipe design. This will not work at the mid point because it will bind before you reach the closed position. I have to have the pipe at the bottom of the angle were there's only the bottom edge of the angle to weld to. What's the best way to build the angle out so there's enough surface to put healthy welds on each side of the pipe?

I have had a side ramp made up for side loading on my mitsubishi canter truck. My mechanic fabricated two seperate ramps and have joined them with flat bar welded to each frame and bolted together.
Each frame has been reenforced bars under where my walkers tyres go up
