My first six cylinder truck I've ever bought, usually got V-8's or diesels. This is a 2012 F-150 XLT the ecoboost engine and it seems pretty peppy.

How does it pull?

From what I know of the ecoboost, it seems like you won't feel much difference from your usual V8s.

My mom has one and really likes it. We pulled a small stock trailer with it the other day, it did ok, but you could tell it needed a little more lead in its britches.

I pull my dads New Holland LS170 around with my ecoboost. It is very impressive. Pulls better than anything that is not a diesel out there. Pulling my 20 foot bass boat it never down shifts unless its a really steep grade bridge. Buddy with a similar bass rig pulls it with a vortec. Down shifts on every hill.

The ecoboost engine has more toque and horsepower than the standard 5.0 v8, therefore it beats out the 5.0 v8. And, it reaches peak torque at only around 1500 rpm.

By the way, you mean to say you never had a 6 cylinder when you were a teenager?

Lucky!

my first car at 16 was a tank, a 69 impala and i think it had a 350 v8 in it, kinda wish i still had it. Thats the only GM vehicle i ever owned, then went to a F150 witha gas hog 360 in it, this also was in the late 70's.

Nice!! That'd be good to bust out at car shows if you still had it. I love older cars.

I hope they hold up well for the 200,000+ mile life we now expect from most engines. If so Ford has a winner.

I love the Ecoboost rental I have while my 250 is in the shop. But I can definitely tell my 6.2 in the 250 has more "sheer power".

I have been looking at these. What type of MPG's are you getting? Thats the most important question these days! I recently traded my chevy 2500 w/duramax for a toyota tacoma, and wish I still had a FS truck.

In the past week I have put over 1k miles on the Ecoboost. Beating it, going easy, everything.

City, 17
Highway 23.

City beating it, 15
Highway with 35mph headwinds heading up north, 17 to 18.

Lmao. Ford has a great reputation for their air induced engines. They also over build all their air induced engines.

Other then that, I do agree.
