I've done small accounts up till this point. Someone wants a quote for a property in Greenwich CT. Around 4 acres. Anyone have experience for doing lawns like these? Any tips? I'm thinking a three man crew. My guess would be to spend 4 hours on the job. Rate of pay around $180.00 per hour. Thanks guys.

The thing about Greenwich is people there are usually pretty wealthy, So even if you have all your numbers in order charge alittle more, Most people would rather pay extra to have a great job where you take your time and make it look great. Also most of them are picky as crap so your going to want to price it higher just for the aggravation of dealing with them in the first place. I mow a few 4+ acre lots and bang them out in 3 hours or under depending on the condition of the grass with 2 60 inch z- mowers.

a 4 acre lot in Greenwich is going to be a 5-10 million dollar home. Not saying that you have to rip off rich people but a place like that is going to have to be done more carefully. There will probably be more landscaping to work around, trees, more trimming. They are more likely to be picky. When you meet them you'll be able to somewhat tell if they are the stuck up type. I really jack the price up for PITA factor.

I'm thinking it may take four hours with two guys. One 61" zero turn, and one 48" walk behind. I'm estimating $500.00 per cut. This includes the gas, labor time, and PITA factor. What are your thoughts?

If it takes 8 man hours then yes, that sounds good. But I think you must be over estimating the time. Also, dont add the PITA factor until you've met them. They might be nice people.

man i need to move out east. Here in michigan you can only get about $100 bucks give or take for 4 acre. It would take me and a helper about 3ish hours to mow a 4 acre property.

If you are based out of Poughkeepsie I dont know if I would be driving all the way to Greenwich for a single lawn. Especially not with 3 people on the clock for the ride. Thats 70 miles or 1.5 hrs.

As far as charging extra based solely on the town rich status, good luck. Those people did not become rich, by being taken advantage of. There is no way that it would take you 12 man hours to mow 4 acres, unless it is perfectly manicured and also going through all of the landscaping as well.

So 16 bucks an hour per guy??? Yeah your right it would suck if my employee was making more than me.

I would rather flip burgers at Mcdonalds for those prices. Why are you even in this business if there is no money in it??? You work for peanuts and have to deal with all the headaches.

i make my money by doing mainly small lawns, in and out in 10 min get 22 bucks. And All of my stops have at least 2 houses together, if not more. I just dont make as much money on the big stuff. The going rate here is $16-$30per acre.

So buy 4 acres, get the fifth free?
