I feel a little uneasy posting this but it might be a bit of a wake up call for some.

A MAN has drowned while mowing the lawn after his ride-on-mower fell into a dam at the back of his house, trapping him at the bottom.

The tragic discovery of the 67-year-old man from northern New South Wales was made after he was reported missing yesterday when he failed to turn up to work, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

According to police reports the man was moving the lawn of his home which backs on to a golf course, when the ride-on-mower slipped into the dam and landed on top of him.

It is not known when exactly the tragedy occurred.

Emergency services discovered his body at the back of his Ocean Shores home at 10.30am this morning.

A post mortem examination will be conducted in coming days to determine the exact cause of death, but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Yeah that is a shame. Take a few extra minutes and string trim the banks or use a 21 inch. Instead of a 2000 pound power.

Those types of yards are so common here it's not funny. Even ones that have a retaining sea wall. This is why I exclusively use stand on mowers and walk behinds.
