Getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2012 Lazer Z x with a 60" deck and 29hp Fuel injected Kohler and want some feedback on the engine. It will be my first Kohler as all my Exmarks thus far have been Kawi powered. I have had good luck with the Kawasaki engines.

Id stick with what you know and get the kawi. I have the same mower with the kawi and get 1.4gph regardless of what im cutting. Anyway you will like the mower.

I have a 28 kohler efi pushing 4,000 hours and it starts righ up and runs all day no problem. Maintenance is the key.

I've got the older 26 kohler efi and more than pleased. Right at 3500 hours and never want a carb engine again. Burning right at 1 gph! I've not experienced the new efi but I'd imagine you would be pleasantly surprised!

I too have the older 26 efi got it the first year they offered it. Great engine I have 2000 hrs and going strong. I run synthetic mobile 1 oil in mine right after the break in oil.

Looked at them today and went over it pretty well with the local dealer. Now I just have to check prices with a few more dealers as they don't seem to want to budge at all on the price except for the $500 rebate from Kohler on the efi equipped models.

We have always had very good luck with kohler however we have never had the efi ones before. Just got a 34 kohler on a 72" cheetah this year and am getting around 1.5 gph with plenty of power which is not bad considering I am turning a 72 inch deck.

What dealer you going to?

I bought a new lazer last year with the 29 kohler efi and love it, I will be buying efi from here on out when i buy new mowers, The fuel savings is huge compaired to my 28 kawi on my 08 lazer.

I would like to buy from Frenettes or Schmidts & Serafines but 2 other dealers in the state have better prices so far.

I have been buying from Schmidts for years now and have nothing but great things to say about them. Then have always done right by me. I would pay alittle extra just for the service alone from Schmidts. In fact i never shop around for mowers, I always just buy from them, So much so i have an exmark dealer in my town 5 minutes form my house and i still take the 20 minute drive to schmidts

I am right in the middle of the two. The only difference being highway to Schmidts or rte 10 to Frenettes. I am leaning towards S&S though. They have been very helpful in the past and stock most of everything I need. Cofiells in Glastonbury has been the most aggressive on numbers but don't want to travel there for warranty work or parts.

Yea man schmidts treats their commercial guys good, if they cant fix the problem that day they always give me a loaner.

That is great to know since Frenettes always seems to not have what I need and need to order most everything except blades and belts. Plus trying to get a loaner is next to impossible. I will definitly talk to S&S about service for commercial customers.

Subscribed.

Curious about this combo.

Specifically if someone has other Next Lazer's with other engines to compare to.

I am also going to look at the non efi versions to see the pricing difference. Then I can make an educated decision of the efi is worth the extra money for the claimed fuel consumption savings.

EFI is worth it alone for : no choke, no backfire, PTO on at idle, and many other drive ability bonuses.

Its not just "claimed" fuel usage, My 2011 efi lazer is twice as good on fuel as my 08 lazer, they are both the same size engines.

I pick up that exact mower from S&S with the efi. So far nothing but good things to say. I deal with Dave up there, he always takes great care of me.
