I am looking for an open trailer that is not a dump trailer but able to hold about 2-4 yards of sand. I want a 12 footer but I just don't know what too look for when trying to find a a hauling trailer. I know they have dump trailers, and dump trucks but I just want a trailer that can handle the weight of sand. Is there any out there or is dump the only option? Help is much appreciated. I am hoping to only spend $3,000 to $3,500. Are there any out there for that price?

Have one built. 12x6 with 2 foot solid sides and 5200lb axles. It should weigh in around 2000lbs empty.

Probably not an 8000lb capacity one.

.

You can double check this but..... I think sand is about 2400# 2900#s per yard.

Wet would be a little more. Figure accordingly.

Thanks for the help guys. Do you think I am at least in the ball park for price or do you think I will have to spend a bit more to get it done right?

Somewhat depends on your area, as who might be a good local fabricator, and who you know that is trustworthy to assist or advise you.

You can get what you pay for, but only if you do your homework.

I think you might be closer to 4K to really be happy? But it depends on who you know.

I load my equipment trailer with sand and gravel some times .
I use 1 yard load bags and stack them on the deck . balanced out 12000lb on a 14000lb trailer .
I also use 3x3x3 ply wood boxes with a pallet on the bottom so we can move the sand/ gravel into the yard without leaving a mess in the front of the house.
I would just spend the money on a dump trailer you will love it

why not just buy a dump trailer even tho you dont plan on dumping it.

I was wondering the same thing.

If you fabricate a trailer that meets the critera and doesn't dump for the same amount of money I am betting you could by a dump trailer...

The idea of the bulk bag on an equipment trailer would be suitable too...
