Yes it is, we have a 30 and a 32hp BB. Some guys like Kaw. There was one of them they were having problems with, either FX or FH. I found lots of good reviews on the BB's so we went with those.

Now you can get the 3100 with a 36hp BB, I think.

Our next mower will be a 3100 with a BB.

"If they are going with the FH model kawi, it is a good old tested design. If it is an FX kawi, these have the issues mentioned in the thread. Not as bad as the big blocks, but I have seen enough that if it were me, I would stay away. But like I said, the FH kawi is actually a good engine by all means."

Found this info from when we were deciding between Kawi and BB.

Hope this helps.

the 26 hp kawasaki lc is a good engine exmark has run it for years.
last year i had bought a brand new ferris 3100 with a 37hp kawasaki dfi engine and the engine ran great but within the first 300hrs it went through 5 fuel pumps and at 350hrs it had 1 coil crap out.
so with all the complaints from me and my dealer ferris and kawasaki put a brand new 37hp carburated engine on it and the new engine gust turned 418hrs and no problems runs strong and its good on gas.
now kawasaki did have a problem with the cams wearing out fast and also had a problem with breaking valve stems but last year they recalled the problem years and fixed then for free.
one last thing just remember if you buy a new kawasaki engine it comes with a 3 year warranty.
kawasaki said under warranty they dont rebuild the engines they replace them
hope this helps

Are you refering to Kawasaki FD713V liquid cooled?
Read alot of threads tonight via Search and still not certain if it would be sufficient for the IS3100z with 61" deck. Have hills and mow approx 9 acres.
Dealer made me a good deal on left over 2010 (no ICD) which Iam contemplating....Nice to be under
10k for a new 3100 ...but not nice if underpowered or valve/cam /lc issues / bad cut..etc

I thought a liquid cooled engine might be the ticket for a long lasting machine.....and so the saga continues .....

dont kid yourself on the horse power. just cause another engine puts 30 or 32 hp on its engine dosent mean u are actually get that hp. keep in mind tourque is the real power. read the fine print.... when engines are tested for horse power some companies do this test without muffler & filter. Kawasaki does the test with these parts on it. Dont u ever wonder why u see two machines that are identical but one has a 20hp & the other 24hp engine? thats because the 24hp is actually 20hp. remember TOURQUE.
