Where is the best place to get worktunes. I cannot find them locally so I will have to get online. I don't want to order from just anywhere. Thanks

Thanks guys, I will check into these. I guess about everyone will have the same price on these.

I just bought a pair from www.farmtek.com for $69.95. I did find another site online for $49.95 after the fact, but they had no way of contacting them if something went wrong besides email. Hope this helps.

I bought a pair of Elvex model # Com-260r and I really like them. The best feature I can think of is being able to hook a cd player into them. I'm not saying the reception is bad at all but; I live in a mountainous area with a limited amount of radio stations some of which are 50+ miles away.If I use these in flat areas I can pick up a few stations in Tenn. and Charlotte N.C.

Sorry; I'm pretty sure they can be purchased @ nothern tool.

Just went to Farmtek, they list them (Peltor worktunes)for 99.95! Northern Tool has Elvex on sale for 69.90, regularly priced at 89.99. Backordered. Northern also has Elvex "with advanced circuitry"for 224.99. The rechargeable ones.
Amazon-Peltor worktunes-on sale-59.99, reg. price 89.99
There's the best price so far.
Who had them for 49.95, Chris?
If I'm gonna spend more than a few bucks, I want the best. I think (not sure) that would be Peltor Selects, like captdevo was selling in August. Remember, when he bought up every one that grainger had? Good trick, cap'n. You don't have any left, do you? Grainger doesn't sell them anymore.

I have the Farmtek catalog in front of me. I think you may need to enter the catalog code to get those prices. The catalog is the warehouse inventory clearance. I assumed they would be the same price on their site. If you need the code, email me at c4chris70@msn.com. I can't find the ones for $49.95 anymore, but if you do a search on www.hotbot.com there are many places that have them for $59.95.

I bought 4 pair this weekend at Lowes home improvement store . They were on clearance sale for $28.10. Not all lowes sores have them but this one is in southwest Virginia maybe close to you. It was in Richlands Virginia.

I was going to say Lowes also, no way would I be paying over $60 for a pair. Northern also has them.

Go to Elvex.com You can buy the 260R for $89.95. I have a set, recharable - runs over 40 hrs on a charge, balance control, excellent reception, can plug in CD player or crew radio, scanner etc. I have had mine over a year. had a problem last October, bal control went out then total loss of sound. E-mailed Elvex, sent the unit in. Had it back in < 3weeks totally rebuilt cost me $29.50 plus freight to ship it out. I'm a very satisfied customer.

They have them for around $83

If you sign up for their email list you will get special deals and I just got mine for $65.

I have checked Lowes and all the one here has is just some off brand of earmuff type without radio. I cannot even find them on the Lowes webpage. I have a Northern store about 50 miles or so away and have checked with them but they don't have them at the store. Now I can't even find them on the Northern page. Anyone else have the Elvex that Whitleys mentioned?

Tazz, i will have to check and see exactly where that Lowes is and if they have any left (if you didn't buy them all), Thanks

I use radioshack digital fm full headphone #12-932 $40.

I assume worktunes are some sort of hearing protectors with radio built in?

I just use regular good quality hearing protectors and take a $20 small Sony walkman am/fm radio and carefully break the plastic speakers off the loop portion of the headphones. The speakers fit perfectly inside my muff type hearing protector and the remaining stalk sticking off the speakers keeps them lodged carefully inside my protectors so they don't fall out. If the speakers you use are too small, they're always falling out, so go with the Sonys. The speakers are pretty decent for the price. I just put the small walkman in my shirt pocket and it works fine. I also have a tape player that I sometimes use. I saw the more expensive purpose built ones in catalogs but I find I sometimes break the ones I have dropping them or snagging them and I'd hate to toss out an $80 set. I just replace them with a $10 set of headphones if I break mine.

Sure makes the work day go faster. I listen to a lot of talk radio, too. Which can be depressing sometimes!

In case anyone else is looking for these I got a new Harbor Freight catalog with them for $49.99. It is catalog #740-j / Fall 2003, page 50, Item #45397-1rvh. I tried to get them on their webpage, but they are still listed as being $59.99 on there.

I know Husqvarna has some that are top notch. But you pay a top notch price too. I think $160?
