I got my 1st request for retaining wall estimate from my daughters boyfriends grandmother. Many years ago i worked for my uncles LCO & built many Versa Lok walls. Back then i heard him tell a friend he figured # of block needed then doubled price of block for the estimate. Is this acurate way of bidding. He hired outside guy (friend) to dig footer. I am replacing exsisting railroad tie wall with block. She also wants price for railroad ties incase block is out of budget. How do you price using block or rr ties. I know railroad ties r cheaper but almost want to price it higher so i don't have to deal with them! Lol! My estimate for # of block needed is approx 550 & approx 120 cap stones. Wall graduates from knee high to abt chest hight.

I always like the "desired profit" method.

'well on this here job I'd like to make 65,000'

Hasn't worked yet for me
