My question is do I have to pull-up all the black mulch to put down the red for winter? Or can I just throw the red on top the black.
Oh and are there any suggestions on what to do with this front?

That makes it more embarrassing to admit that this is actually my new front yard. My wife and I just brought this house and the yard hadn't been touched in months. All I had time to do was cut it once, and that was over a week ago. I'm trying to think of how I'm going to design it.
I'm not a professional landscaper I just got the will to try anything...
And by the way... there is mulch under the green brush the previous owner put down.

I would pull the weeds, trim the jasmine(?) back and place the mulch over the existing mulch. Will leave a nice clean appearance to the entrance. congrats on the new home.

I shouldn't laugh about the type, color and kind of mulch h.o.s think are important when it can't be seen,,, but I do... :)

I would tear everything out from the concrete steps forward and start over.
Congrats on the new house...

I think I'm with you eatonpcat. Though I'm not a professional landscaper we do own a landscaper business which I have a crew of 5 that does the work. This year (over the winter) I planned on getting trained and certified in certain areas of landscaping, and this new house is going to be my training ground. So, starting over seems like the fun thing to do.
I just don't know what to do after... The season is very short now and I have a limited amount of time to work on this. And I don't want my crew to come over here to baby me.LOL
