Just found out that Tru Green is using Falcon. All summer I was wondering what fescue it was and I found out to day. I think that it has the best color so far in a fescue and holds the summer well. This yard was done last fall and it has no irrigation and came through the summer no problems. Like to know if anyone has use it and if they liked it or not and how much did it cost for a 50 pd bag

Here is a link.

But Falcon V was tied for tops in 2004. Why not get something newer and better. Like Shenandoah III, tied for top in 2009.

Have you tried the III and if so are you still using it. Where do you get the info for the top rated fescue?

We do not grow much tall fescue up here. No personal experience--I just read the links and tech sheets from the seed company.
However it would be wise to read the latest data at NTEPS.com. You want to be sure, and you want to compare nearby locations, or your own state if possible.
Search the tech sheets for the dates of the high scores in the NTEP tests. Also look for resistance to the main two diseases in your area.

Try to stay with varieties that are in the top ten or tied with the top ten. I am assuming the varieties are better every year--so--newer top scores are better than older top scores.
Pay careful attention to the traits that are important to you--drought resistance--disease resistance--dark green--quick establishment...
If the tech sheets from the seed company do not say resistant to brown patch--assume that it is susceptible.
