When does your ground generally freeze solid for the winter??? This CG killer doesn't kill other grasses as well??? Isn't CG dead by late September???

Why are you scalping the lawn??? I guess it works with Bermuda grasses but scalping cool-season grasses has no benefit... in fact the existing grasses provide cover for the seedlings... I've got overseed germinating now that was put down last week... Is your climate much different than ours??? :)

Weather conditions are prime now for seeding.

You need to seed starting Sept 1, late Sept is too late. KBG is slow to germinate, it need's those extra week's to get going. Seed germination is all about soil temperature, and your soil temp's will be at their optimum next week.

We try to get most of our seeding done during September, if were not using KBG we have no problem seeding into late October. I would hold off right now on seeding and wait a couple more weeks for the temps to drop a little. Scalping down to an inch will be fine, it will allow you to get better seed to soil contacting with the slice seeder. I'm assuming you will be using a starter fert, that will provide a good amount of surge growth and the existing grass will grow back in ten days or so. I would check the label on the Spectracide bottle and see if they list a re-seeding interval, which is how long you should wait after application before seeding.

thank you very much

i think with the temps i am going to wait till september i was thinking of doing it now but weather still in mid 80s would like to see it high 70s

yes i will be using start fert

i will check bottle to make sure it will not interfere I have to kill crab in one area it TOTALLY took over

is watering schedule ok?

it should be good, watering times will vary depending on your irrigation system, typically 15-20 mins a zone per 2x a day. You just want to be sure that you are providing enough water that the soil stay moist, with out flooding the area

Drive would be your best bet killing crab and foxtail. Not sure of that product you listed but you don't want any broadleaf killer that has 2 4 d in it if you plan on seeding. You can seed in MA right into OCT, anytime in Sept is fine
