I was wondering if you guys had or know of any uses for the old decorative rock that we have removed from around houses which is full of dirt, sticks and other stuff. This year we have shoveled so much rock out (40-50 tons) and put new back in so there is a large pile of it in my yard now. Its mainly 1"-3" river rock but has other types mixed in with it since people would cover up other rock. I thought about screening it but being several types of rocks you couldn't use it again for around houses. Thought about using it for my driveway but has way too much soil in it and nails from siding and roofing projects. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, instead of coal you get dirty rocks that might resemble coal but is eco- friendly.

If you could wash it i would use it/sell it as drainage stone for french drains etc.

I have thought about screening and cleaning it use for drainage but not sure if that big of rock or being round rock would be good to use. I also thought about using it for fill on my property where i want to put up a pole building but the thought of drilling through it when the time comes wouldn't be fun. I really hate mixing materials especially when we are on the job and rocks fall of the skid loader into the dirt where its not supposed to be. (anyone else have that problem?) lol.

Yes we shoveled about 90% by hand. We were so sick of it this summer during the 100 degree days and maybe thats why a guy quit on me but did stick it out til November. We had five jobs that we shoveled out all their rock and each one took about a day or two of shoveling to remove it.

When shoveling around plants it hard to get equipment in so most of the time we couldn't. I had a few other people want to have there rock redone but get an estimate done ;) so never got the job. It is a real pain but it is money and just like me no one wants to do it but if you get paid good it can be worth it if its not all the time.

If you want to decieve yourself, thats fine but I know for a fact that equipment does indeed solve everything:laugh:

In this case it's cheaper to hire labourers then buying equipment
