Ok, its time for me to buckle down and buy attachment for my Lazer. I need a bagger for scalping Zoysia yards in the spring and for picking up leaves in the fall. It will not be used in the summer on a regular basis. I have seen many versions from different companies which all say that they are the best. This unit needs to be able to be removed so that my mulch kit can be used in the summer. I have looked at Exmarks vac. and am not convinced it is the best. My questions are..... do I need a pony motor with my deck only being 52 inches wide?....... Is this something that will work well with my machine in the spring and fall? Thanks guys and I hope I am not beating a dead horse with the topic.

The ultra-vac does an excellent job on 25/60 Lazers:)

Ultra vac cost around $1200-$1300. It does a great job.
1. Takes about 20 seconds to take off with no tools, go thru gate, 20 seconds to put back on. No tools again.
2. No extra motor to keep fuel in, change oil in, air filters, etc.
3. Bag taper design allows wet packed leaves or grass to just fall out. No fighting to get materials out of the bags.
4. Anti-blowout baffle is awesome.
5. The ultravac for the HP is light enough that one person can take it off-on by yourself.

I called my dealer today and he said it would cost $1600 installed with tax and everything. That sounds pretty good. My other question is how long does it take yall to take off your mulch baffles so you can bag? This is a concern to me because I would have to put it back on for some yards. Thanks.

Naw, you will not be doing that. Tooooo much trouble. Mulch kit takes to long to take off and on.

So, would you say just leave the bagger on all year? I will hate to deal with the grass all year long!! I guess I could use the bagger in the spring then on with the mulch kit. That would work best. I only have a 5 foot wide trailer and my Lazer just fits on there. Will I have to get a bigger trailer in order to put the bagger on? If so, how wide?

I put the vac on in the fall for leaf pickup. After mid March I put the mulch kit back on for grass season. Then vac back on in the fall.

My big trailer is 6'6" wide and it has lots of room for it. I haven't measured it. Haven't put it on the 6' trailer so I don't know. I will have to measure it for you.

You may want to have a look at a TRAC VAC. or a unit that reduces material, especially if your work would entail bagging large volumes of material. I have stayed away away from the UltraVac for my 52 because of that reason. The key to bagging efficiently is to empty the debris a few times as possible otherwise you are spending more time emtying than bagging.
A 2 bag system fills up real fast.. I mulch all my big leaf jobs first with the 52 and bag with a non reducing 2 bag rear bagger which is the moist efficient way for me right now. Prob not a good idea for everyday grass bagging, but would certainly save you time for the jobs you noted.

I have used the ultra vac and it does a very good job.
However, I am looking into the new dump from the seat model from Exmark. Saw one a friendly LCO bought the other day to go with the new 60" Lazer w/27Hp Kohler he bought with it. lol Man that unit with the bagger is a hoss.

Bill,
I use the ultra vac in the spring and fall for cleanups. In the summer, I either side discharge or the mulch kit. It would be too much time to take the mulch kit off and not be worth the extra work.
When the vac is on the mower the total width is more than 5 foot wide. You would have to take the blower off the discharge chute, this takes about 2-3 minutes, then put it back on at next job.

Thanks for all the great replies. I got a decent offer on my trailer so it looks like I might be able to sell it. I am planning on buying a Big Tex 7x16 landscape trailer for like $2400. Does that sound like a good price. Currently I own a 36" walkbehind, a Lazer, two 21 " snappers, and a little wonder. Do yall think that I could get another Lazer on this trailer? The inside of the new trailer is 83 inches and my Lazer is like 77 inches long so I think it could go sideways. This new trailer is so nice so I hope I can get it. Thanks again.

I'm confused on this statement. Why does it take you 2-3 minutes to take the blower off? I use no tools and takes about 20 seconds? Do you have the little metal flap all the way tight? If so, loosen it to where you can turn it with your fingers. No tools and off in 20 seconds. I've had mine that way for 3 seasons and it works awesome.

I did that right after I bought the vac setup, but it totally ruined 2 belts, totally demolished them. The dealer replaced both of them at no charge, but was asking if I was leaving the bolt you are talking about loose, I said yes. He sugested that I tighten it, because while loose, the belt would be wobbling back and forth, causing a lot of pressure on the belt.. I took his advise, and have never had a belt get eaten like thet were. It doesn't take a lot of time to tighten the blade all the way. I didn't have to pay for the eaten belts, but I am not sure how long the dealer would have been replacing them at no charge.

Well, I think I solved the trailer problem so the width of the unit shouldnt be a problem. I can wait to get all my equipment and start cutting grass. This looks like it will be a good year so I cant wait to get started.

Mine has never been tightened since day 1. I have it just loose enough to move it with my fingers. Humm....

Bill did you just buy my trailer from Mike in Benton! I'm pissed now, the green one? I'm joking good luck man, it should fit you're needs pretty well, I was looking at it, and he told me he'd sell it to me for $2,200. Because Fiser has an 18 footer with a side gate for $2,100. Tell him that! Unless its too late. I'm still probably going to need you're trailer, it will be a little tough hauling mulch and topsoil in an enclosed eh?:D

That is true. I wish you would come on with the money and let me sell it to you. I will make you a great deal man. I know you got the cash so bring it on. I think you will be suprised what that trailer will do for ya:D
