I'm looking at installing 3/4 "- 1" landscape stone in a bed that's 30' x 50' ,2" thick. Do you use the same calculations as installing mulch? 1500 sq ft = ~ 10 yds of stone.

Go heavier than mulch because a true 1" of 3/4 is going to have lots of holes in it. ...you know what I mean?

It is like measuring a three foot tall wall using length and height for square footage only to find that your blocks are 8" high (36" does not divide evenly by 8)...you need more square footage of block to make the wall.

3/4 will look sparse at 1".

You are probably looking at 75 to 100 square feet per ton .

i find about 100 ft per ton works at about 1.5 inhces...you want to put only as much on as needed...no more..and make sure theres heay landscape fabric underneath...something heavier than the std mickey mouse weed barrier that Home Creapo sells

The stone is a Ruby Red kind of granite. Do you think i should increase it to 13 yards with 11 hours labors for two guys. I'm going to be putting down a heavy fabric first, removing the mulch and installing some edging with 4 hours labor. What do you guys think, sound close?

I;m a little confused....so start to finish...how many total manhours are you estimating...?

My guess is to hand rake existing mulch from area to be covered in stone, remove old torn fabric, replace with new fabric, add 20 ft of plastic edging, buy the product, one guy 4 hours.

Two guys - shovels and wheelbarrows walking 100 ft each way, 13 yards of Ruby Red granite 1" stone to cover an area 30' x 50' = 1500 Sq Ft. 2 inches thick = 11 hours labor.

Does this not seem correct? What am I missing?

1 ton of 3/4" stone will cover approx 100 sq ft to a 2" depth
50X30= 1500 sq ft. so get 15 Ton of stone.

What's your guess for amount of time using a bobcat vs using wheelbarrows and shovels.
