View Full Version : Hydroseeding Question for Paul :-)

You mentioned Finn additives in an earlier thread. I have found their tack is really good and will try the Hydro Max this season for sure.
I know you run a Finn T-60, which is now what I own also. My question: Have you used the Finn moisture retaining product...I forgot what it's called but will the T-60 handle 250 lbs of wood mulch AND those granules? I believe they swell when wet so I am interested in knowing first hand whether the machine will pump it.
I have 150 feet of hose.
Ed, it depends we have found that we have to reduce our mulch a bit when pumping a wetting agent thru hose over 100' long, but with the tower no.

I have used the Finn Hydro Max as well. It is a good product but for the money I prefer the Slicky Sticky from James Lincoln Corp. The Slicky Sticky seems to mix better because it is granular rather than powder. Less of a mess putting it in the tank and it doesn't ball up as much either.
Easy Lawn sent me a sample of the "Blue Goo" to try. It comes in premeasured bottles. I am going to give it a whirl and see how it does. I'll let y'all know.
BTW, Ed, the first day it is warm enough and no snow is covering the ground we are going to be shooting some BFM on a job in Dublin. I know you have asked about it in the past and if you want to come along you are more than welcome. Heck, maybe I'll even pitch in for dinner after we are done with the gig!! :D
Good Earth, Hydro Max is a liquid bio-stimulant not a wetting agent or tack.

Thanks for the invite!
Holler at me a day or two before the shoot and who knows....maybe I can head up there for an afternoon :-)
Hydro Stik is Finn's yellow powdery tack isn't it Paul?
I haven't had any problems with it so far. I did use some blue powder that came in a 'flat' paper bag which I wasn't too impressed with.
Paul do you have any problems with Finn tack? And, has anybody used stik-plus? I have :)
Ed all we use is Stik-plus :)

I figured you probably did ;-)
Actually, stik plus gave me some problems with clogging at the gun tip on a jet machine. Was no big deal to clear it and keep spraying though.
Am curious how much I can use in my T-60. From my experience, it definately reduces pumpability of the slurry a little . I don't want to sacrifice coverage per tankful but I guess if the job requires something more like a BFM then you should have the fibres in there.
I suppose if you sprayed 100% wood with stik plus applied at the 2500 to 3000 lbs/scre rate you would have decent erosion control on say, a 1 to 1 grade.
Ok here's a quick tip on the Stick plus, add more tack :) We add an extra 1/2 bag per load. ( 8 bags per case) it aids in pumping 240 to 250 lbs of mulch per load.

My fault. I meant the Hydro Stick, not Hydro Max. I don't even know what I was doing. In a hurry to catch the Bud Shootout!! :D

If ya'll haven't it yet.... mix the guar and PAM together....for superior holding. I to have used Slicky Sticky but have switched to a produce out of AR. which is similar but only cost $2.50 lb. therefore I can add more producing better results for less money than before. HTPA just updatd the website and we are having a three day conference in Mississippe... check it out www.htpa.org
