Anyone found a company that sells a plastic bag that will go over the Walker GHS small hopper so you can dump right into the bag? If so, where can you get them and how much did they cost you? Thanks

Go to Walkers website www.walkermowers.com and look under accessories. Walker makes one. Never used it myself...but it could work well. Not sure on the price either. If you use it...let us know how it works...

there are all kind of manufactures on web sites that have different thickness and size bags. I did a search last year when I was considering a Walker. The throw away kind that you can reuse would be the optimum I am sure. One of the guys I think from new zealand was using Burlap from the wool industry, He had the best Idea..... do a search

9.5 bushels in a plastic bag. Then what? That load is heavy if it is dry, I cant imagine how much more when wet.
I can tell ya that if you are successful in finding a bag you will become much more of a man after a week of mowing.

Yes I do have a Walker and am speaking from experience.

I get big plastic bags from Turf N Garden here locally. They are $2 each and are so thick they can be reused many times. I'll see if I can find out where they get them.

I've been able to dump 2 full 9.5 bushel hoppers full into one bag, if it's dry. They come in REALLY handy during leaf season.

I could buy a whole box and ship them to ya, if you like. Let me know.

djs,
My Walker Dealer carries a really heavy plastic bag that will hold the 9.5 bushel. I bought some clips at Lowes, and clip the bottom to the bag to the mower, lift and dump, pull the clips and throw the bag away. 2 people can move a full bag around enough to throw it in a truck or trash can. I am careful with my and bags can use them 2-3 times before throwing them away. You get 60 bags for aroung $50.00. I will try and find out where he buys them from.

If you want good bags, try your local janitorial supply place and ask for the biggest best bags and you will probably get them for very cheap. I found I can get more bags, better quality and cheaper than walmart can sell them for. I have seen people take a plastic trash can, cut the bottom out and line it with a plastic bag held up with a bungi cord, fill it, then just lift the can off. There is a web site that sells something like this (don't know what site it is), but a $9 trash can from walmart is cheaper anyway.

The one that Walker sells looks really commercial grade. I would beleive they'd last at least a couple seasons.

The resuable bags from Walker are high dollar, at least from my dealer....around $90 if memory serves correct. You might get a better deal from Capt Devo here on LS.

(2) 9.5 bushels in one bag....good lord, how to you load them....with a forklift?? When I dump on tarps and I am by myself, I only dump half my hopper and then have to dump tarp into truck. When I scalp dry burmuda grass I might go a full hopper, but that is a hell of a load on my back. I am saving my money for a debris loader (for the scalp and leaf season) and discharge the rest of the season. Good luck in you baggy search.

You might check Sam's Club if you are a member or know a member. It's just going to take a bag with such a large opening to fit the mouth of that hopper. Other than the great post above, I don't know what to tell ya.

As Matt eluded to, industrial type applications would be good place to look because they could be large enough and strong enough for you. Sams might sell that dunno.

I personally had bad luck with the bag from walker all the seems started to rip after a couple of months .

My buddy's dad has an auto upholstery shop and made a heavy duty bag for him . He made it with to big eyelets on the top and then he put hooks on the hopper all he has to do is lift the back door hook it up and dump. I am going to have him make me two this winter.

We have what you need. We get our bags from a local janitorial supplier. We searched for bags that are big enough, but you cant hardly find them. We leave the bags on the customers curbs for the city to pick up. Ive got the small hopper on my walker. Our bags cost about $34 for around 80 bags. they're about 1.5 or 2 mils. They're tough enough to drag accross the yard if its smooth. I can give you a phone # here in Montgomery if you cant find any down there. Shipping shouldnt be too bad since your only 3 hrs away

BigJim,
Is that a 2003 Walker in that pic you posted? That looks like the new exhaust setup. Is it the 29 EFI?

I had a thought and tell me what you think.
Make a bag!
Get a piece of shade cloth and cut it into a rectangle,
fold it in half then sew up the sides with strong fishing line or wire. You could make the bag any size you liked and it would be very strong.
You could also add a draw string and handles.

No its a 2001 11.5hp.In NZ they put the exhaust on the opposite side to the US ones.

Heres the phone # dj, Ben Mar Paper Company 334-263-4448. I dont know what the stock # is, but if you call just tell them you want the black lawn bags. They know exactly what you want. Everyone I know with a walker buys there. The bags will hold one hopper full with some room left over.
