does anyone know anything about maruyama? What are your thoughts on their string trimmers and blowers?

We've got a Maruyama powerhead that you can change different attatchments onto. We hate it...low low power...hard to start...has a weird choke setup that is unlike any i've seen. It was the first trimmer we bought when starting out...got it used...I would never personally invest in any of there other products. It just sits in the shop and collects dust nowadays...

I used up until now two Maruyama back pack blowers, I felt they were underpowered once I used a red max 7000. The blowers didn't last too long either and I had multiple problems with them. Now I'm using Red Max blowers, and wouldn't go back.

Been there done that. Got suckered into buying a shrub trimmer of that make. Guy who sold it to me went under and noone else in our area handled them.
It sat around for a while till I threw the piece of --it out!

But have heard nothing good about them.....I run echo and am very happy. Dealer support is a must also though! If i had a redmax dealer like my echo dealer i woulda went with that. Cannot go wrong with a good dealer!

I have a Maruyama trimmer that is about six years old and starts on the first pull. I don't have any other Mary. stuff because there isn't a dealer around here anymore.

Go with Echo 2-cycle stuff. Very good product and reasonable prices and there are very good dealers to support you wherever you go. Parts support has been great as well.

Just my opinion. I have been using Echo for almost 15 years now with very few problems!

I have all there equipment...I dont use them much I use them as backups because they dont like starting very well....they take longer than normal to warm-up. And the edgers bog easy. The blowers are great and powerfull seing that they are Kawasaki engines BUT things fall apart all the time on them. I have been through one gas tank, 3 backstraps, 1 throttle assembly, 1 recoil & a few starter roaps.

My first commercial string trimmer was a M and at the time I liked it. I replaced it with a Shindiawa (sorry, not on spell checker) and have no regrets. Shin has much more power, but is heavier than the M. Had one M dealer here in a town of 450,00, but no dealer now. Other than underpwered, the engine started easily, even after sitting for a couple of years. I replaced the head with a universal head and keep it on the trailer for a backup now.

I have one of there gas powered back pack sprayers, and it sucks. Its hard to start even when its warm. The only reason I can get it started in a few pulls is, a freind told me to put it half choke, and almost full throtle.

I have several trimmers and an edger - They work great at holding the corner of my garage down.
The only thing worse than the brand is the crap dealers out here selling them.

I got one of their brochures from a local dealer and it was very impressive. I never got any further than the brochure, thankfully! Primary purchases this year were Husqvarna and Redmax. Its feedback like this that keeps us all from making huge mistakes. Thanks to everyone.

I guess that I will be the only one that likes maruyama. I run all their two cycle products and over all am very happy. They are a pain to start sometimes, and do take a bit longer to warm up compaired to other brands, but power is good and everything is nice and light. I will admit that their entry-level equiptment leaves alot to be desired. In fact its junk. Go top shelf if if you want to go with maruyama.

We love our Maruyama stuff. Our trimmer is going on 6 years old and I cant find an excuse to get rid of it. We have an edger, backpack, hedge trimmer and trimmer of theirs. We'd buy more of it. We don't have any trouble starting any of their products that we own.

I just bought a stick edger off Ebay. JUNK. it wont start at all. I cant find the choke lever on the thing. stick with shin or echo usually more dealers to get parts also.
