I'm getting 13 yards delivered today. I buy composted mulch so it doesn't take too much nitrogen from the soil. It costs me $21.50/yard delivered. It's really nice stuff.

I charge an hour a yard on top of the mulch plus 20%. Depending on the job, I may also add a delivery charge.

$100 even/yard installed. Includes edging. Pay about $22/yard for 3x hardwood mulch.

Scraper's price range is appropriate.....one yard an hour is a decent benchmark...its an average that works out pretty well

I charge about 55-60 per c.y. for hardwood mulch. I also use a mulch blower company for my bigger jobs. The nice thing is they do everything for about 30-35 per yard. Does a sweet job also.

$60 - 100 per yard. Is that including the prep work (ie: weeding, cleaning out beds, edging, etc.) or is that price just for the material and installation?

I usually include prep work in my price. If the weeds are excessive I may charge an additional fee. But as long as the job calls for 4 to 5 yards of bark, I usually dont increase the price for excessive weeds.

Wow. You guys charge $60 to $100 per yard?

So a customer with say 5,000 sq. ft of beds, at ~200 sq. ft/yd, would need 25 yards of mulch and would be billed for $1,500 to $2,000 with materials (on high side at $20/yd) at $500?

Perhaps I'm missing something here but those numbers seem high to me. $40 to $45 per yard are about the most I've seen around here. I could be wrong, actually I'd love to be wrong and start billing out at these rates if the market will bare it. Unfortunately, I doubt that very much.

I am charging 60-65/yd. If there is a lot of hard to reach areas 70/yd. I will discount $5-7/yd if 10 or more yards are purchased. For a small amount of weeding, it would be included. If there is some time needed to weed and prep, then that is by the hour added on.
I have a condo unit with a courtyard that you have to get it up 2 flights of steps. the courtyard uses 1 1/2 to 2, and when the back patios are done, I use aboput 4 yards for job. yards of mulch, for this job I charge 110/yd, this year, the price will be raised.. And they have never complained about the price. Every spring, around March, I pick up the mulch and do job, send the bill, they pay with no questions, since the second year, I have just installed the mulch and billed..
I might look into a mulch blower to do it for me.

You got it...a 20 yard mulch job will gross $2,000 and a 3 yard job will gross $300. I may come down to $90-95/yard on repeat customers where I know the re-edging is not going to be such a hassle as a new job. Although I make up that price break with pre-emergent application. ;) The muclhing service price doesn't include any cleanup (i.e. pruning, leaf removal.) The cost does include all edging.

I charge $70/yard installed plus $30 for each trip I make with my truck. I pay $22.50/yard for cedar mulch. This only for straigh forward spreading. I have separate costs for weeding and edging, and more if long wheelbarrow trips.
