I just went to their site, I hop I'm not the last person to finally learn about this. That sounds like a really awsome mower, especially with the blade tip speed it has. I'll probably never be able to have anything like that but its cool to window shop.:D What do you guys think of it?

Thats the most I know of. I also seen the twin engine DC, it had 46 hp. And next I think is Bladerunner they have a 42 hp model. As far as I know thats it. I'm kinda amazed by the 50 hp though! That would be one mean mower.

I spoke with a rep from Dixie Chopper at the New England Grows show in Boston and if im not mistaken i THINK he said the 50hp goes for $15-16K. I could be way off...

That "50 hp" model has been available from DC for several years. It is not a "new" model.:)

I had an opportunity to demo one last spring and I have to tell you it was a riot!
You knew you were riding something powerful.
$15,000.00 is a little steep for me though...........now if I had some air fields to mow it would be the ticket.

Mowingman, I don't know if you were refering to me but I never said it was a "new" model. And Farm, what are you talking about 41 hp? Where did you get that info? Not saying you're wrong, just curious.

IBGreen,
I just got the impression from your post that you thought it was a new model. Just wanted you to know it is a machine that has been around a while with a good track record.:)

would blade tip speed be more ,than say a 25 hp i thought it was all regulated to around 19000.

Mowingman, I didn't mean to sound like I did, I appreciate the response!:D And lawn storm, you're correct but not all mowers turn the 19000 fpm tip speed that is allowable. Some such as the Kubota zd18 turn about 15500 or so wher the DC that is in question as well as some of the others will turn the 19000.

That engine is 41.4hp it is stamped on the engine valve cover. Still plenty of power!

The dixie you are refferring to has a yanmar 3tne84ct engine on it. It is a 3 cylinder turbo charged engine that produces 41.4hp at 3000rpm. That is straight from the yanmar book! You could also do a search on here it has been talked about before! I still do not know dixie gets its 50hp rating.

That's some false advertising, thanks for the intell guys, yet another reason I love lawnsite.
It's not false. They use a turbo charger to increase hp. Like in trucks.

The info is correct that engine produces 41.4hp with the turbo on it! Look at the yanmar owners manual or go to there website. Should be a good engine but dixie is overating it's output.
