Hello folks,

I was wondering if there were any Wheel Horse owners out there or anybody that had some experience with them. Me and my dad have two C-body types that are about 25-30 yrs. old.

I'd like to converse with you if you have experience with Wheel Horse. scan0002.jpg

hope that works.:(

Do you use JD equipment commercially? (e.g. ZTR's, WB's)

Thanks
Dan

Not only that but both Kevin's have partially the same signature!
nu83, check here for prices to sell yours, just ask 'em what they are worth with a good description of age condition, attachments, etc. http://www.gardenweb.com/forums/mowers/

Back to the original question, I have a 1993 Wheel Horse 520H with 20hp twin Onan, hydro and hydro lift, 48" side discharge mower deck and 36" rear tiller. Great tractor, very little problems to speak of and has 967 hrs on it thus far. I'll try to attach a pic of it's striping action (needed new blades thats why it looks like a 3 wheel rider mowed it :p )
Eric - ps Kevin email me eric@cuttingedgelawncare.biz would like to talk.

I'll try to attach a pic of it's cut and stripe. Normally it wears 23x10.50x12 Dico Turf Trac turf tires, they do good even on large hills. I had the lugs on for winter though. A blade mounts to that frame underneath (was removed from frame at time). Oh yea, several friends and relatives have Wheel Horse classic 300 series and grandma has a old C-101 8 speed with 10hp Kohler and 42" side discharge deck. They are great tractors...

Eric, no wander why you have a had time getting more accounts. from the pics it looks like ya live in the middle of know where. In my area its rare to even see a empty 1/4 acre lot without a house crammed in.

Eric,

Didn't know a Whel Horse could stripe like that. Got a stipe kit of some sort on it? BTW, I have some rolling lawns like that too.

Husker, That is freaky! And you like Deere's also! Rock on man!
Anyway, I don't own a ZTR or a walk behind mower presently. I have all lawn and garden tractors which have served me well so far.

For commercial mowing I use a JD X485 (25hp), 345 (18hp), and LX 188(17hp). The 345 is also my plow tractor.

The Wheel Horse (spelled work horse) shown is the tractor I use primarilly for hauling firewood out of my woods that I sell. Believe me, it is a work horse for 16 hp. It's hauled some heavy loads out of my woods in some really muddy conditions. It was the Cadillac of its day I bet. It's a lot older than me, except the engine which was replaced last year.

We've got a 14 hp automatic just like that one also, but the engine will not crank right now. Presently trying to figure out how to get it running.

As you can see, me and my dad are very garden tractor poor! LOL:D

Kevin,

Those "X" tractors are nice. Are you well pleased with yours? Do you have the little 3-point hitch for it?

Envy,

I can't say enough good things about my X series. I love it. The liquid cooled e.f.i. engine is very smooth and powerful. I'd like to say I've got the 3 pt. hitch yet, but I don't. Business is slow and extra money is a little hard for me to come by right now and the 3 pt. hitch isn't a necessity for me yet.

I have an '81 C-175 with a 42 inch rear discharge deck. The previous owner put a Tecumseh OH-140 on it in 1997 and died shortly thereafter. The tractor sat until my buddy bought it and cleaned it up and painted it. The tractor does not have an hour meter but is not rusty at all and feels very tight. The motor has less than 100 hours. I put 4 new tires on it,a used but very good shape metal fender from a 315, new drive belt, deck belt, seat, headlights, blades, and a host of various stainless steel fasteners.
I repainted it using Dupli-color bright red; looks pretty good from 5 feet away.
I used it last year but will probably not use it much anymore. I bought a Gravely hydro 48 inch walk-behind last month so I'll retire the old "Horse".
The only complaint I have is with the rear discharge deck, love to find a side discharge at a reasonable price.
