Would it be more efficient to wash the stones and rock before installing them in a pond? Aquascape's book says to do it after.
Havn't done a pond installation yet, but I got my first inquiry today.
Any other pond info welcome.
Thanks,
Chris
Posted this here because the pond forum is pretty much dead.

We usually hose off the stones before install. Either way the filter will clear up the water after it has ran for a day. It pretty much comes down to personal preference.

Unless they're really dirty I would just do it in the pond. If you get them form a quarry they've probably been handled a couple of times and the big stuff has been knocked off already.

even if you wash them you'll stll have to clean the filter daily for a couple of days. I'd knock off loose dirt and build abd let the filter take care of it.
