a good backpack blower can be just as important as anew mower.
you use it at each property that you mow and maintain. in my opinion the best blower on the market is the Redmax eb7001.
it is a little expensive, but well worth every penny.(475.00-550.00) depending on the dealer.

I have run the shindaiwa, redmax, stihl. the most powerful is the 650 and 750 from echo. the 750 is the same as the 650 except for tube mounted throttle. we have two and want two more.

You will probably be happy with any of the above options. I have an Echo 603 and do not see any need for more power other than my need for POWER. I had a handheld before I got the backpack and gave it to a friend. Every day I wish I had it back. It is much easier on small properties than the backpack. Consider getting one of those also. Good luck.

I'm currently using the John Deere BP60's and they were new blowers for JD last spring. The blower cost should be approximately $450.00.

Echo 650, going to get another, new 750 has better air filter which is the 650 only drawback, clogs fast in dry, dusty conditions.

Redmax EB7001 here as well.

If you get anything, either Redmax, Shind... or Echo, get their TOP of the line model for $450-500.. They are all neck and neck...

Why spend "only" $300 for a so-so blower that isn't gonna do as well or as quick of a job ALL year round, especially during fall cleanups, when you can buy the BEST on the market in whatever brand your dealer carries, one time?

So, as far as best bang for the money, it's the top of the line, Redmax EB-7001.

Capt-devo here on lawnsite from rpm-sales.com sells them online.

Seen 2 different test at expo--redmax 7001 is most powerful!-PB650 was a very close second. however, they didn't have all the big 60.0 blowers.

GCS LawnService and Husker1982:

How do you like the new deere BP60s? I am considering that or the stihl br400 (that is what the dealer carries). The specs on the deere seem to be pretty decent (59.2 cc, 201 mph, 517 cfm at end of tube). I am interested in the redmax eb7001 but I don't know of any dealer around here that sell them. Anyways, have either of you ran other BPs to compare this with?

Thanks,
Ryan

I also have a br320 and a br400. I thought they were just great. That was until I got the redmaxeb7000. It is well... "JUST AWESOME":D
My favorite now is the redmax 7000, the stihls are hanging in the garage for backups or when more than one is needed.

If you have a echo dealer ,I would try Echo. If the blower is operated by someone other than yourself echo has 602 w/ a frame around the motor. I have one and my guys can't seem to tear it up.:blob4:

Huh- I was at expo for three days and did not see a test for the pb 650 and redmax 7001. If they are that close I am not aware of it. Good luck

I bought the Shin blower from a new dealer, He was promoting this price at a local Home & Garden show. He told me he bought 200 to sell at this price and has almost run out of them all already. I Love it, for fun I was blowing a building brick alround the parking lot, this blower has some major power !

Yes Oryan,
I use 3 BP60's and love them. I had Redmax before. The biggest BP I had for Redmax was a 6200. It was nice. The new 7000 and 7001's are nice as well I have used them and they do blow better than the deeres. Although the Deere is powerfull enough. You will not be unhappy with either.

Dave g AT NASHVILLE GIE,BOTH REDMAX AND ECHO CONDUCTED THE SAME TEST.If you missed both, you must have been a 420magnum owner and had your head hung to low to see or you was being lead by a german shepard!

Here's what I did Last Year. I was looking to buy the BEST BLOWER AVAILABLE. So I took out my trusty year old REDMAX EB6200, and asked my dealer who handles both. "Which has more power? I grabed two Beercans off my truck and set them up in the parking lot.
The Echo PB-650 won it very easily over my year old REDMAX EB6200! At apx 50 ft the ECHO could knock over both cans and the REDMAX only "made them Wiggle". BUT!!!!!!
I still have my TWO REDMAX 6200's and the ECHO is no more! It only lasted me 1 year! The Dealer replaced it for me "Under Warranty", so I have the new one. But the "Trust" just isn't there. I "Trust" my Redmax's! One has made it 4 Seasons, could an Echo?:blob3:
By the way, I still have 4 Echo PB-400E's that work great!!!! Their about 12 years old and weigh a ton(Steele frame):blob4:
Wanna buy them? Told my wife they didn't work! Later

one thing to be careful of - if you buy a RedMax EB7001 from Capt Devo or from anyone on the internet is the fact that you won't get a warranty. You must buy it assembled from a dealer before Redmax will honor the warranty. At least that's what a RedMax rep has told me. He said it must be assembled and safety instructions given before they will honor it.

Sounds like another good reason for me to stick with Echo. I've bought several Echo products by mail over the years and have never had one break down during the warranty period anyway.

I have a Echo PB 650....much faster getting jobs done than my old PB 400e's and PB 4600.

And if anyone thinks using a handheld blower is better on any jobs, you must not have much to do besides blow off a 10 foot driveway.

I bought a Echo Pb-650 on ebay last year for 400 bucks brandy new.....
Awsume machine always starts up on second pull when cold.... even when i started it up for the winter clean ups in 20-30 degree weather....

From what i've heard the redmax's are very good machines also!

Ditto Premo services, I had my Redmax eb6200 stolen and the closest dealer only had Stihl br400 in stock. I took it home, used it two minutes and took it back. He said there was nothing wrong with it. It had half the power of the Redmax. He doesn't sell Redmax so I waited two days till he got the Shin 6300 in. It is the same blower as the Redmax except flex throttle instead of hard plastic. I later bought a Redmax 7000 later. The Redmax and the Shin feel about the same, probably because they use 95% of the parts they use are the same. Both blowers have awesome power and have been very reliable.

They will warrent the machine you just have to wait in line since you did not purchase it localy. And hey if worst comes to worst I will ship it back to Dave for warrenty. So what my out of pocket expense is 20 bucks tops to send it back to him for warrenty work vs. the extra 130 + I would have paid localy. After recieving my 1st redmax from Alamia I had no worries buying from RPM. I am sure by the time the thing breaks down it will be way beyond it's warrenty anyway. These things are as they say in the fuel tank..AWSOME!!!

I would go with a redmax brand. Ive had stihls and echo blowers in the past and they've always had a hard time starting up for me. Dont get me wrong their good machines but im way happier with my redmax eb7000 that i bought from alamia in 2000. Runs excellent and havent had any problems, its a gas guzzler for sure but i dont run it at full speed anyway..so u cant go wrong. I have the small handheld redmax blower as well and that works excellent as well. :D

Use to run nothing but redmax. Dont have a single redmax anymore. Since the stratocharged came out they have not worked well for anybody around here for trimmers, blowers, saws, augers, you name it. I tried out a couple of stihl's last year and they are awesome. They are by far the best built and have the best warrenty. Lifetime on the shaft and the clutch. I run the 85 trimmer and the 420c blowers. they work well. About 950 per crew of two trimmers and one blower.
