Hey, I'm here I'm just slow and lazy.. Busy week so only here a couple of times. I even forgot to e-mail you about the city of London auction today :( There was some pretty nice toys there, my wife set up the ground rules real quick,, "nothing that wouldn't fit on my trailer". There was some good deals and some not so good deals too.<br> No wonder we are so busy, there are only 4 lawn businesses in Canada and we spend all our time here. Next time I go to a sale I'm gotta put a sign on my trailer with the Lawnsite.com addy on it and maybe we will get some more Canadians here. psssst hey buddy wanna buy a pavement line machine??for an extremely high price. Do you ever get the TriAd paper I sell lots of stuff in it?

I left Barrie Ontario three years ago to seek my fortune in Lynchburg Virginia. For a die-hard Leaf fan, moving to this hockey wasteland (Carolina Hurricane don't count) has been tough. Miss Swiss Chalet and Tim Horton's the most but so far more pros than cons...still miss the homeland though.

cantoo
06-12-2000, 10:56 PM
Dylan, I get my Walker parts from my dealer and I get blades from my local Honda dealer. The rest of the stuff I usually buy new from Home Depot and then sell at auction or in the paper before it's useful life is over. This keeps my equipment new and usually trouble free.

I'm near Ottawa,in cottage country. Lot's of work this way which is why I haven't been on this site recently. I usually write in to correct Lawrence Stones ignorant posts re Canada and his boring posts about how the only way to make money in property maintenance is to spray poison or run old unreliable Toro walkbehinds. Can anyone explain why you walk when you can ride? Hope everyone is enjoying the hot economy here in Ontario.

Adam,<br>I'm not from Canada, but I wanted to let you know that you live in one beautiful country.<br>My folks got transferred to Nova Scotia, and lived up there for 2 years. During their time up there, I got to visit twice, and man did I love it. They lived just outside of Halifax, and everywhere I looked I saw unspoiled beauty. Peggy's Cove and the lighthouse was the favorite part of my visit.<br>One thing that I noticed right away, is that Canadians seem to actually take pride in their land. All the roadsides in the rural areas were litter free, and in the urban areas, you could eat off the streets. You sure as heck aren't gonna find that here in the States. It also seemed that the people there had more respect for their fellow man.<br>Someday, I hope to make it back up there. <br>On my way there, I stopped in Toronto and Ottawa (Airports) and found the same things there as I did in Halifax. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good people here in the States, but I think we could learn a lot from the folks in Canada.<p>Take care, <br>Tim :)

Lawnnorder-That's too bad.Just make shure to tell the guy who buys your business about this site!Hope you find a good buyer!<p>pottstim-Yes it is very clean up here! That is why I like living here. Some on this fourm think that I would be better moveing to the U.S. becouse of our exchange rate. But I would trade .65 to the dollar for all of the +'s up here.Boy you would like my city!It is a tourist town and the city makes it spotless! We got first place in the community in blooms international contest. We were rated best for our size of city in the world! Not bad eh?Sorry there goes my canadian speech agian:)Anyways I'm glad you liked it up here!Feel free to come up agian! We like those tourist dollars:) <p>----------<br>from:Adam<br>AB Lawn Care

Adam, we were at the Bend on our bike this weekend and seen a good tee shirt.<br> Americans have the right to bare arms.<br> Canadians have the right to bare breasts.<br> Where would you rather live? <br> And of course the traffic was a real pain, do you ever go there much? And of course the scenery was great too.

Ab, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've been working too much lately! We run Toro mowers, main is a Groundsmaster 18 that just blew it's motor, again. It has about 5'000 hrs on it though so I'm not really upset. Run a couple of Toro 21" trim mowers and a new Echo srm2600 string trimmer. Lawns are growing great here but we don't make our money on lawns. Add ons are what brings in the real money and in the late 90's saved our bacon as the lawn care business became too cut throat. Landscaping makes way more profit then grass work, at least for us. Good to see that the UN found we are still the #1 country in the world to live in. We still care about our citizens, some thing our neighbours to the south might want yto look at. PROUD TO BE A SOCIALIST!

Grass Roots Lawn Service from a small town near Calgary AB. Teach full time (gotta go back on Thursday :( ) trying to hustle to keep up with the yards. Usually we're in drought conditions by now and the lawns only need cutting every 10-14 days, still going every week...looks like a banner year for a change.

Cantoo - you're right -- I didn't realize how old the thread was when I decided to 'refresh' it.
It would be interesting to see who is still in the industry and who has moved on.
