I am a small operation, but like to use Lesco products. I know that JD bought them out. But how does one purchase any lesco products? I could used to log into my lesco account and see the different products, but now it re-directs to JD website. Thanks for any help

TX Lawn I can not answer your question but the last I checked you could still order stuff and you could choose lesco products. I ordered some Celcius from there not to long ago.

On another note I want to use something other than lesco. Example I might like to use revolver but where else is there to herbicides than lesco?

JDL is still basically lesco. They still carry the Lesco chems, mowers,ect...

BTW, If anyone knows of someone looking for mowers I have a Walker MTGHS 48" with alot of options and a BOP 36" single hydro that I really need to sell ASAP.

Thank you, Bill

There are a bunch of suppliers around your area. Winfield Solutions [used to be Estes] is generally the cheapest but there is also BWI, Horizon, Ewing and several more smaller ones. Revolver is a great product for getting rid of cool season grasses, but boy is that stuff expensive and I'm out

I have a customer that wants me to remove and replace Railroad Ties. Roughly about 50 ties are needed for job. I really don't even know where to start at estimating this job labor? Dump fee? What dump will take old ties and price?

I am sure that I will be re-leveling ground and preparing site for re-install of ties. Making cuts for dead mans and custom length ties and driving spikes.I am thinking 3 days to do this job with 2 guys and myself doing some of the work.

I know the pricing jobs is relative to how much you want to make. I just want to be in the right ballpark to get the work. I also don't want to be kicking myself in the ass during the job because of low bid!

For some reason I can not add photos to this post or I would.

I have myself and two other guys to pay.
Any tips or thoughts would be great!

50 ties@$12.50 with tax = $676.57
1-box 50lbs of 12inch spikes @$60 with tax= $64.95
Labor and Dump fee to remove old material = ?
Labor to re-install new ties = ?

$33 a rail road tie is what we charge

Did anyone go to Ed's open house yesterday? I was wondering if Coy [Exmark rep] or Toro had any of the new aerators there [the old Lawnsoulutions]. I have not missed in several years, even last year with the snow and ice, but have been busy and totally forgot about it yesterday.

Man I wanted to go but I was to busy. I went to Plano Power one couple of weeks ago. I don't think I saw a new aerator. I saw one but can't remember who it was made by.

This is from the Plano Power Open Day.

Crap!

Decided to cruise some of my routes today to see how the lawns looked. First house I get to and there is another company outside doing the bushes and trees. That is just a great way to start out!

Can anyone tell me where to get some tailgate ramps for an F150? I would like to take the tailgate off and just put a drop down on there with some ramps.

Just wondering how many of you licensed irrigators took your traing class at Sundance from Jerry? I am in my second day now hoping my pea brain does not overheat.

Can someone tell me where to get the drop down gates that go on the back of pickups. You take the tailgate off and put them on there. All kinds of different setups that I have seen on the road but I don't know where to get them.

Jason,

You have to go to a welding shop or trailer shop and have one built.

Hey Chris,

I feel your pain brother. Last year was the only time I have had in years also, but did not have enough money to pay attention. If I would have not sold that mower Thursday I would not be taking it now. I really could have found better things for the money at this time so I hope this pays off.

I am willing to bet you just made a good investment by taking the course. Last summer I saw more irrigators running around than lawn companies. I wanted a peice of the pie, too. It makes perfect sense to get licensed to survive another drought.

Once you complete the course you have to take the exam, correct? I read the closest place was in Mesquite.

Yes Chris you are correct on the test and Mesquite is the closest place with the most test per year givin. I will warn everyone that might be thinking they can just go squeeze the classes in sometime, that this is not the way you should look at it. You bettter be commited to spending all your time for 4 full days and nights for this. There is 8 hrs during the day you will be learning a lot of information and then homework. This will cost you 500 for the class plus the fuel to get back and fourth to Keller for 4 days then if you succesfully pass the class then you will be sending 100 along with your test application and 111 for the license.

There was a company I think around McKinney that builds landscape beds and ramps. There has been Lawnsite members before that have bought them their for regular pickup trucks as well as LCF trucks.

I'll start putting some out next Monday I believe. I at least want to get people thinking about lawn care. The season is right around the corner. Starting with neighborhoods I already have clients in and then expanding outward. Then the 2nd week in March I will go back and hanger the neighborhoods I have clients in again for name recognition and continue from there. I am getting married in July and was told I needed to lose a few pounds so I'll be pounding the pavement next week myself!

If the drought this year is as bad as last year no one will need irrigation repair work done due to water restrictions.

It's Pero trailers in McKinney. Price was much better at J & I in Madill Ok for a landscape bed. Not sure about just a gate. At the time I was looking at a bed it was $40 per ft at Pero and $28 per ft at J&I with 2 ft fold down sides, spring assist gate, trimmer rack, and tool box underneath on both sides.
