Price break for edging

OK all,
I've looked through the search, and couldn't find exactly what I am looking for. I want to know when you guys give a price break on machine edging of existing beds.

In my area I have been charging $1.00 per foot. Most of the jobs have been @ 300' or so. This year it seems all of my new contracts are larger properties, and have a lot more linear feet to edge. Does anyone have a "cut off" point where they charge say $1.00 per ' for the first 300' then drop it down to say $.50 ' after that?

I'll give you two examples of what has come up this year.

1.) property has 300' of edging, but only 5 yds of mulch to put down in certain areas.

2.) property has 680' of edging, and is getting 24 yds of mulch to put down.

What do some of you guys do?

You only charge $1.00 per foot???? up here it's $1.75 to $2.00 per foot. Your too cheap already!!!

do you have a cut off where you will lower the price after say 300 or 500'?

Usually I give a break at around 200feet. But, it also depends on the size of the rest of the job. The bigger the job, the easier it is to give a break on that. If I'm just putting edging in, and it's a fairly big amount, I'll give them a break if the customer goes out and marks it--- you'd be amazed at how much time you can save when you dont have to do that.

I'm not talking about putting a hard edging in, I'm talking about using a bedding edger machine to prep the edge of the mulch beds. :D
