Help!

I've been struggling with my lawn for years and it keeps getting worse- I want to get it right- I had Lawndoctor come out and give me a price of $750.00 bucks to fix it- (it's less than 1/8 acre)
I can't spend that kind of money and I cannot imagine I can't do it myself.
It's very thin and has had some grub damage and probably some mold and leaf and dollar spot.
What do I do first? I think I have the basic idea but when do I lime? First or later?
My though was to:
1. Detchatch- get all the dead stuff up
2. Reseed- Overseed (march)
3. Fertilize after grass grows. (4-6 weeks later)
4. Grub and insect control (June?)
5 Where does the lime come in??

You are on the right track. After dethatching, core aerate, then do the seed. You can put fertilizer on right away. Do not put pre-emergence on if you overseed. Get a soil test to see if you really need lime. Good luck.

I'd be sure of any fungal activity before fertilizing. The nitrogen could make it worse. Other than that, sounds like a good plan. Good luck.
