can anyone give me some insight on the process of building a wooden flatbed on a 78 f150 ranger/explorer longbed?
i don't know the first thing about it and just wanted to get an idea of what it would take, materials, time, difficulty...

Why wood. We have metal flat beds on almost all of our general duty 3/4 ton and one tons. Built them all ourselves. Metal will last forever, wood is short term.

Well first of all you will need some good hard wood for the fram mounts then presure treated for the rest. You would be better to just go steel the you can have a head board that is strong and part of the bed.
