I'm possibly starting a new lawn care business in SE Washington state, and I'm looking for any advice on how I should go about advertising. I am currently in college but will be graduating in June with a business degree. What do you guys thinkwill be the most successful advertising? I would like this to be a full time thing, so I'll need to hit it hard. Thanks for the advice.

Fliers, lots of them. Very reasonable way to advertise. Walk door to door putting them on the doors of homes. Remember, putting them in the mailbox is illegal. Doorhangers are also effective and will look more professional. More expensive than fliers. With fliers and doorhangers you can target the area you wish to work in.
Ad in the newspaper or flier inserts. Might get alot of price shoppers or jobs that may be out of the area your willing to work. But, still effective.
Yellow Pages. Same as the paper with price shoppers and tire kickers. Of course, Walla Walla isn't the biggest city in WA either, so it might be more effective. Ad might cost a few hundred bucks a month.
Everyone's results in the advertising is different. One person might swear up and down about YP's, when another will tell you it's a waste of money. You'll just have to find what works for you.

I agree with Mykster on this! Flyers, flyers, flyers!! Door to door is the best way to go on these. I have seen them attached to the outside of mailboxes but never put them inside, illegal!! Also, never put them on peoples vehicles, alot of times they get upset about that or they throw them on the ground and your names all over them, not good! Leave stacks of them in local businesses that you know wont mind to lay them on their counters, etc. Always carry business cards with you and give them to everyone you talk too, never be caught without them, it's unprofessional. "word of mouth" advertising works wonders also!! Hopes this helps!!
