I remember a while back seeing a pic of TLS's old fleet of garden tractors back in the day before ZTR's. Anyone else got old pics like this? Would be interesting to see... :D

Cub Cadet is a 1968 Model 125 Hydrostatic drive 12hp "One Holer Kohler" and a 48" deck. Had a snowblower and plow for it.

Deere's are both 318's They have 18hp Onan's Hydrostatic drive, power steering, turning brakes and both 50" decks. Sold one to buy my F-935 and kept the other one for my Father. We now have a snow blower and plow for it.

Weed wacker is an original GREEN MACHINE and thats my old LawnBoy Commercial Push. Also pictured is one of my favorite blowers. Its a mid 80's Homelite/Agway blower. Forget specs and all but it blew better than any hand blower I ever had!

1971 I think. I made some money with this old Bowen's. Not as much as I would have if LawnSite had been around. LOL
I guess if anybody is interested I could go out to the barn and take some pic of old mowers including two old gravel's.

I'm working on the brake and Clutch in this pic-

This is a:

John Deere 65
5HP Tecumseh
3Foward,1 Reverse
32" Cut

This Thing runs GREAT!!!! (after I got done with the trans and the clutch, It was off to paint (Eric, I'm telling you, NEVER let me get around spray paint-I went through 8 cans on this thing alone of GREEN and then 3 more on the deck, then 3 for clear coats!!!!!!)

Thats a whole lotta paint! How underpowered was/is it? I'm thinking about a 30" single blade push mower with bicycle tires on back that would have a 4hp Tecumseh or something like that.. I have an extra engine and Simplicity 30" deck laying around, have parts bicycles with good tires/wheels. It would have a blade belt clutch on it so I can start it easily and don't break the engine shaft on first time out LOL. That'd be a lot of deck for that engine but it might work OK since it's just push type.. not sure yet if I'd try this or not.

Actually, now that u mention it, its only underpowered if youre mowing in 2nd or 3rd gear going up slopes. I can be in 3rd gear mowing without it stalling (full throt.) on flatland though. Besides that, runs great!

Only used that much paint because I sanded a LOT of it off, a bunch was rusted on the deck and on the footboard. Plus, I figured, if I as gonna restore a oldie, I might as well make her look G-O-O-D!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D Had to do 1 coat a day too, otherwise I would make the paint run REALLY BAD with all that I put on it.:dizzy:

Tommy, do you still have that F-935? How did you like it? I found a 93 model in 2001 that had 95 hours with a 72" deck on it. It was in mint condition. The owner was talked into buying it brand new for his 3 acre estate and he found out it was too much mower for him. I have used it for the past 2 seasons and love it. It has the 22 hp Yanmar diesel. Very fuel efficient. It still only has 400 hrs. on it now.

It was also too much mower for me.

But the CUT quality was a real letdown. At 2 to 2 1/2" it was OK, but anything over that and you had to go real slow and youd still get stringers and uncut, un sucked up grass. The vacuum ability of the deck was horrible. It needed another couple hundred more engine RPM and I would have been happier.

Plus they really aren't a 0 turning radius at all.

Great design back in the 80's and 90's, but they have no place and cant compete with todays Z mowers.

If all I did was mow large open areas (parks, ball fields, etc) then this is the mower to have. Comfortable rather quick, and like you said it just sipped fuel!

Tommy, that's exactly what I use the F-935 for. I mow about 25 acres for an HOA. I've never had trouble with the lack of power. At first I was skeptical of it only having 22 hp., but as with all diesels, there is a lot of torque. With the dual brake feature I can mow around trees faster than my ZTR, but it tears up the grass doing so. That's why it's for commercial use only or large acreages. Thanks for your response.
