Using water from stream....?

Hello Everyone,

My parents recently bought a house with a 2 acre backyard. The house sits up on a hill and the backyard slopes downward. At the bottom of the hill is a small stream that runs through the yard.

My folks have had several retaining walls built on the backyard slope creating ledges where they are planting, grass, bushes, and gardens. What can they do irrigate these areas using the water from the stream ?

What kind of pumps do they need ? Is this even a good idea ?

Its a good idea to use the water if they have rights to it here in wyoming you might have a stream go through your land and have no right to it and big laws against using it. I would have a test done on it to see if would be good water not too salty etc. I would just use a good irrigation pump depending on the amout off water you plan on using.
