I haven't picked up many new accts this spring, and I have no desire to. I have picked up alot of extras my existing customers want done. No haggling, just do it and let me know how much. Glad to see things are looking up for ya Bobby.

Same here in Ohio. People still needing spring clean ups. Also have several lawn jobs. Decent return on investing in advertising in the Valpak.

I guess we have picked up 8 or 9 new lawns in the last 2 weeks. Lost one...but no great loss though. Things are lookin good.

Same here Bobby, a few weeks ago I had a little work to do but over the last week I have been CRAZY. I have spring clean-ups booked for the next 2-3 weeks (weather permitting) with more calls coming in every day.

I have picked up several customers who just walk up while I am mowing and ask about service. Several existing customers are requesting landscape maintenance and getting a bunch of referrals for applications from existing customers and fellow LCOs. This should be a very profitable year.

SLOW here... VERY slow.. This is my first year. I am thinking of selling my equipment and forgeting about the business. I have an add in the local newspaper, but the problem is, there is about 60 other Lawncare/Landscaping adds in there as well. Everyone and there mother is doing this around here. I can make more money by selling my equipment. I have no idea how you all are so busy. I have flyers out too. Not as much as I want to, but I just keep sinking money into this business, and getting nothing in return. It is a very depressing time..:( I may give it another week or 2, and then the equipment goes in the paper.. Oh well, another door closes in my face..

Jarrell, if this is your first year I wouldnt give up yet. Cant expect to much without anyone hearing of you or your quality of work. This is only my second year and I more then doubled my work load. Try different advertising see what works best and go from there. If you have sunk a lot of $ into equipment I would wait it out a little longer. Get the word out to everyone you know and see if they can stir up some work for you. Best of luck.

I've picked up 5 new lawns in a week. Things are lookin up for me, but I'm dumpin $$$ down the toilet due to some little mishap in a parking lot. Since I have to take my trailer with me to school so I don't waste 45 minutes running home and getting it to mow after school, I bring it with me. Well, some girl decided to put her door in front of my wheelwell of my trailer, so when I pulled forward it hung up and I bent her door just a little bit. They tell me it's gonna cost $1,100 to fix a little bent metal. I wasn't looking and paying attention. Some idiot screwed up my mirror so I couldn't see and I was too lazy to get out and fix it because I was in a hurry. Be careful you guys, this stuff is expensive! I have to pick up a bunch more lawns to make up for this and I still have mower payments to make. There goes 3 months of work :(

He's not exactly sure of his game plan. He's got tree work at the moment and I just helped him setup for P/T lawn work. I'll let you know how things progress.......

Yeah slowly getting more calls now, may have lost a dethatch job to the homeowner after they heard the price and must have decided to do it themselves. Otherwise gotta go look at another lawn mowing estimate today in a subdivision that I put fliers in. Going to be putting a few more fliers out tonight in another neighborhood that I figure I could get other type of landscape work. Starting to notice that people are hangning on to my fliers and calling me up when the grass greens up for stuff for me to do. My newspaper advertising has had little response so far.
But its looking like I'll be mowing this week and also have to take a look at a landscape plan for someone and work on getting it within a customers budget then figure out when to do the landscaping so it's slowly picking up.

It has been a very wet spring here and a lot of people can't keep up and are calling for help. This is one of the many times that having the right tool (mower) that will handle tall wet grass is key.
