Does anyone know of a company that makes a dump insert for a 6' box? Do they even exist? I looked into getting my factory box converted but they wanted $3000. I could buy a dump trailer for that. I know I should have an 8' box, but I don't. Any suggestions.

Pathfinder in RI will make one. They do not stock them though and there is no difference in price over an 8ft insert.

CT 18 fireman, you wouldn't know how I could get ahold of them would you? I'm originally from RI, where are they located?

Thanks CT18fireman, looks like what I want and with a sander. Do you have one? If yes, any problems?

NYRookie, E-Z Dumper makes a 6' foot insert also.

Also where in R.I. are you from? I live in Barrington.

East Greenwich, but most of my relatives live in Warwick. Thanks about the EZ Dumper also.

I would not recommend the Sander. I would get a V-box instead.

I have been very happy with the Pathfinder. Very well built.

Landscaper3, is the stainless that much lighter than the steel one? I have a stainless plow and I think it would look good on my truck. Like my wife says, whats $400 more it's only $.

Yes its alot lighter, we can put our 2 yard sander in it and take only a few hundred pounds off the GVW. Plus looks great.

The biggest plus is the durability. Anything stainless will still be in use 10-15 years from now with no problems. Steel units need much more work to keep them running.

i know this is an old(er) post but i have been researching and wanted to add my 2 pennies....

FWIW, i have a Pathfinder snow plow that i had shipped down here from RI. personally, i absolutely love the unit and it hasnt let me down. thats why i turned to them for the dump insert first. yes, they are very far away from me but their durability and quality speaks for itself. on the phone w/ them i was told that they dont make an insert for the shortbed but plan to in the future.

EZ Dumper makes the shortbed inserts per order. so, good luck finding a dealer w/ one in stock. the cost difference between the shortbed and longbed insert is minimal.

Little Tipper makes one as well for us shortbed dudes, and they keep them in stock and ready to ship. i was quoted $2300 over the phone for the unit, plus $200 or so for the cab protection, plus another $200 for frieght charges to kentucky.

personally, i would love it if Pathfinder made one for us as they have the lowest initial price and the unit is TOP NOTCH.

i will be going w/ an EZ Dumper from a local dealer and waiting for it to be made.

UPDATE: it seems the dude on the phone has his wires crossed.....

here is what Fred (owner of Pathfinder) had to say through email....

Joel: Thanks for your comments about the plow. We make 7ft dumpers on custom order and, since we are making the sides soon, we can make up some 7ft models for shortbeds. Price is the same and shipment to Ky is no problem-we use discount brokers for the absolute lowest frt possible. Fred at Pathfinder

BTW, their insert dumps are only around $1500 bucks before shipping.

looks like im going to reconsider.

Thanks Lawnsmith. I found a EZ Dumper 6'er today used, about 2 years old. They want $1400 for it. It came out of a Ford F150. I will contact Pathfinder first before making a decision. All my relatives live in RI, so it may be a reason to save on the freight.

I spoke with Pathfinder today regarding a plow issue. While on the phone I asked about dumpers. They said they do not make them now but would custom make one any size. Price would not be far standard 8ft models.

not to veer to far off subject here but the guy that answers the phone at Pathfinder doesnt sound "all there", LOL. Fred is the only one i trust to talk to about technical problems or questions. the install instructions are a little hard to understand for the snow plow as they are all hand drawn and whatnot. i got Fred on the phone and he walked me through it w/ pointers along the way.

as for their inserts, the only problem or "disadvantage" i can see is how far they sit up in the bed. their dumpers seem to be a lot farther off the framerails than other brands. but, in Pathfinders defense, it could be because their inserts dump a full 60degrees vertical compared to the high 40s of the EZ Dumper.
