Just wondering how many of you have a similar problem?. It seems like I have collected a few too many "toys" for my space. The overflow equipment fills a 10X20 storage garage, w/ plows at a friend's house.

I'd like to get 1 more truck, but then it'd be in the street w/ the "family truckster"

The HOUSE is big enough! I can see a few of those backpacks along the pantry shelf... and do you have a gunrack? They hold trimmers quite well! Maybe you can pass the blowers off as central air....:D

Why not just find yourself a yard? Even just a place to put the trucks and trailers. That would save you a LOT of room. Maybe get rid of the open trailer, and replace it with an enclosed... put some of the mowers in there... that will get rid of a LOT of stuff.

We're in the process of moving to a new facility - started constuction of a 40X60 pole barn w/ office & bath on a 3/4 acre lot. We'll be in hopefully July/August. Roof trusses will be set this week. Not soon enough. I built this garage in 1990 and tore down the 1.5 car garage (slab is under the white dump & red/white pick-up). I'm convinced - its never big enough.

I have to second fblandscape.
A covered trailer means not having to always unload at the end of a long day, too. The advantages are many... if you don't mind springing for the trailer. Wells Cargo makes some nice goodies for the inside, too, like a fuel system, racks, etc.
OK. Now I am daydreaming. Maybe next year.

we ran into that problem last year with equipment storage...we were lucky enough in the off season to find a pole barn that we rent now. And we have more than enough room in this barn to expand.

Guys,
If you'd look closer, you'll see 3 trailers (5X12, 6X12, 6X16). I don't care for enclosed trailers. I have a system where each morning I check equip for oil levels and tire pressure before loading, then at days end as it comes off & put away, the equipment gets fueled, (repaired if necessry), trimmers checked for line and edgers for blades. Also, I feel it's a lot easier to access your equipment at a job site from an open trailer. Right now I don't care for enclosed, but times and circumstances change. All of my stuff in storage relates to off season equipment: 4 snow throwers, 2 push leaf blowers, leaf vac, salt spreaders, salt, calcium, aerator, thatcher, etc...
Mike, to get that LESCO 200 gal unit sideways, we set it up on 6X6 ties to clear the wheel wells. 4 of the 5 wb's are Snapper (36, 36, 48, 52) w/ the last one an old 32 Scag. 2 - 48 wright standers and a 52 Snapper Z w/ Peco vac.
Yes I know its a lot for a 55X 150 residential property, thats why we're relocating. Around here, to rent a shop w/ small yard, it would run $1000-$1200 a month easy. I'll have a place to own for under $2K/month w/ a fenced in yard w/ some space to rent myself till I grow a little more. When I built my existing garage, I was only 2 crews w/ 135 or so accounts - and I thought I'd never fill it.

Bob,
How many crews do you have now and how many men on your crews?
Turfdude

4 crews
1 man applicator
2 man lawn maint
2/3 man lawn maint (depending on day)
2/3 man landscape install/maint (depending on lawn maint schedule)
8 of us in all plus a part timer 1-2 days a week, and my retired dad who likes picking up shrub orders and mulching.

Those are the kind of problems I need. Although in my city that would be grounds to revoke my business license. ;)

Hey Bob,
How do you secure that tank on the 6x6 timbers, and onto the truck? This idea is just awesome as a space saver.... What a difference!

I was going to build me one like the lesco and Gregson clark sideways one, cause my skid like your wouldn't fit sideways.

We lag-bolted the tank to the timbers. The tank is litterally wedged between the wheelwells and front of the bed - its a tight fit. We take the reel off to get it in and out. The downward weight is enough to keep it in place.

Just get one enclosed trailer, and you will see a world of difference...its kind of like an add on to your garage...you can store 2 to 3 mowers in there, depending on size...and the equipment access is not a problem seeing that most enclosed trailers have a side door...plus, its a good way of advertising and looks very professional...you don't have to get 3 of those bad boys, just get one and see what a difference it will make with your storage needs...just my opinion though, and you know they say about opinions...they are kind of like rear ends, everyone has one and they all stink!:D
