I have an edelbrock quadrajet (model #1904) on my 400. How do I tune it? Is there a special tool to adjust the needles? and also is it just like tuning a non quadrajet carb?

Tuning specifacations and instructions are available for your carburetor on the Edelbrock website.

Be careful, Edelbrock carbs are known to dump fuel, causing "cylinder wash". THe motor won't last long when that happens.
When in doubt, go with the smaller jets.

I have a 1406 600 Performer. What do you mean, dump fuel? Cyclinder wash? I haven't heard of this?
I run mine stock, never adjusted it. Runs great.

When I had my motor built by RHS (Racing Head Service) out of Tenn. they asked if I had an Edelbrock carb. They told me to be careful if I did. They said those carbs tend to dump fuel, which wahses the cyliner walls clean of oil, which can lead to cylinder wall scoring, and ring failure. They are the ones that build race motors, so I took their advice. Then again, I was running a Holley carb, so I didn't have to worry. This was 5+ years ago, and the Edelbrock carb was new to the market. Maybe they corrected the problem by now.
