I have never used a slice seeder before, but think one may help, please advise me. I have a 15x20ft area that was sod... most of the grass has died. Basically all thats left is the sod mat.....if I slice seed it will it come back?

All I can say is: Have fun getting the green netting off the slit-seeder. WHAT A PAIN! Why can't you just rough it up, seed and straw?

The mat from the sod is still there......maybe loam and seed over.....1/4 inch or so?/?

Dont do it!!!!! I rented one for about three different jobs it was a pain in the butt to do. I think i lost money on the whole thing. Just get a spreader

I think that the slit seeder would do a good job.. You would have to run it with no seed at first to looosen the dead sod up, then remove the mess. That is a job. Then put seed at recommended rate. I would rent a good seeder. Lesco here rents the seeders they sell. They do a great job. I would not rent a small one from rental places.

Bypass the the slit- seeder and get a yard or so of compost.
Aerate, seed and then put 1" compost over seed. Results will yield a dar better germination yield.
