If so what brand do you have and how do you like it? I am looking at getting a 1,500. gal. Finn or a Bowie any feedback would be great thanks.

I own a 600 gal Easy Lawn (jet agitation). It is great for what I do. All residential, usually 1 acre lots. I like the ease of the my machine, but this won't help you much because it is a completely different animal from the Finn or Bowie.

I've been thinking about getting into hydroseeding too. I'm also wondering what a good setup would be to get going, tank size, pump size, brand ect... Do most of you guys that do it do work for other contractors, developers or just privte residential cutomers.

We have a 900 gallon and an 1100 gallon Bowie. Love 'em. Have had them almost 10 years. Had to overhaul one engine in that timeframe.

Would highly recommend Bowie to anyone.

You are correct in looking at a mechanical agitated machine. I have a jet machine (Ketchum industries) and it is time consuming and annoying to load. You have to break the mulch in very small pieces so it does not clog the machine.

Yes they are. Owned a jet agitation machine once.... for a year. Had to upgrade after a short stint because of all the issues with that method. Now... that was 10 years ago, and there may have been some advancements with that type of unit of which I am not aware - so please don't misconstrue this to mean I'm badmouthing jet agitation.... it's just that 'way back when' it was a bad move for us with the volume of hydroseeding we were doing.

I have a 400 gal mech. aggitated machine. Works great! I run 70/30 mix in it...covers around 4000 sq ft. If anyone wants pics of it let me know....im selling it after I finish spraying this Spring....im gonna eventually move into larger Finn unit.

Thanks for the input guys. I have checked around and I'm finding most people prefer the Bowie because it has a chopper in it that shreds the bails and I guess the Finn doesn't. So it looks like its going to be a Bowie. Thanks again for the opinions.

I'm probably late on this, but take a look at the Easy Lawn contractor series. They are mechanically agitated and use stainless tanks. They have Diesel engines and the pump and agitators are hydraulicly powered. They have an electric bale grinder and 3 opening to dump materials in...they might be a good unit.

I have a bowie 1100 diesel gooseneck and a turfmaker 425, both are good machines.
