View Full Version : Who would and who wouldn't bite the bullet for 5 college girls?

After finishing a house here in ann arbor the neighbor girl asked me to stop by for a quote. I quickly met all 5 roommates which I have to say was very pleasant!:D

BUT...after taking a look at that back yard, the beauty faded. Oh my god, it had to be almost 3' tall with the only access being a very small side gate. They did however offer me a whopping $40 to cut it. This was to be a one time cut...they'd break out the 21" from that point on.

I now know that I've reached that point of thinking "I'm too old for this $hit".

All I could say was "you're crazy, all I can recommend is to wait for a flyer to end up in your mailbox, there are some newer guys that will cut it for that".

I think I'm still having nightmares about that back yard.

how small was the gate. did they want it just cut or cut and trimmed? if just cut as long as the gate is big enough for me to get a 48" wb through i would have done it. Maybe barter alittle. LOL

The gate was chainlink installed in the 50's or 60's, it was smaller than 36".

Forgot to mention that the back yard was huge.

I would have to say that's a tough call. Obviously if they are college girls there is going to be a CRAPLOAD of stuff in the back, bottles, clothes, cans, tires? bikes, etc. I'm not sure about their place, but I have experience with frat houses and they are for the most part garbage dumps. The girls aren't bad usually, they keep their places nice. But if you are saying the lawn is 3' tall... don't bother.

A little eye candy never hurt anyone. I would have had to barter a little bit, or at least got a single friend to help for free possibly.

Now you know you have no chance at some tail. But do it anyway, doing favors (even though they are paying you)for chicks is nice. I would take down the fence and drive my 52" hustler inthere and mulch everything. I mow onthe highest 4.5. That usually misses most bottles, rocks, underware, toys, then pick up the **** and mow it lower. big yard 45 min to an hour and the girls will be happy with you.

MICH,

Chain link fences are the easiest to deal with. Provided the chainlink hasnt been stretched so tight, you can easily disconnect the three bolts around the end pole that secure it to the post. Then you slide the chain link down the top rail and sneak the walkbehind underneath the rail. After you cut the lawn just reconnect the fence and you done.

If the chainlink is super tight and is going to be a repeating client then you can weave in two or three additional sections of fence and the fence goes back together much easier.

JMan,

Uhhhhh, as far as the no chance for tail.......well, lets just say I have a very grateful employee for taking on just such an account one summer. But thats a story for another forum LOL!!!!

If the backyard is huge that would be too much work for a one time cut in my book. Something would have to change to make the deal a lot sweeter and that is not going to happen so I would just have passed.

Not, cash money is what motivates me to work.

Thats how I saw it...looking at it and realizing immediately that there was no way in hell that anyone should do it for $40.

Anyone considering it would be thinking with the wrong head.

Everyone needs to keep in mind...business hours are for doing business. While you're screwing around, there's another lco taking business from you.

Seems to me if those 5 coeds had the assets you spoke of, they could surely find a college stud to service that back yard for $40.00 or less.
