We have 2 pair on Toro walk behinds. I have had good service for four years now. The only bad part is they jacknife when backing up or comming off the trailer. So we went to the rocket wheels or bull rider caster style. I think the Jungle Wheels were around $350 + tax.
I have a 1996 Red single wheel Velke. I was wondering what a good price is to sell it. I bought it before I got my Dixie and it just sits in the garage collecting dust! It was used maybe 8-10 hours. It still has the 'titties' on the tire! There are a few people interested in my area so, I don't want to sell/ship far away. I paid $245.00 new on April 10 1996.
Thanks

Who backs up with them without any problems? Why dont you have them hooked up then take`em down of the hook when backing off the trailer? Are they better corner turns then with a velke?

I usually do not have any problems backing, I put my weight on my toes which pitches the back of the platform up preventing it from digging into the ground. If backing up sharply I just step off and let it jack-knife.

Why don't any of you use Pro-slide? That seems like a great setup, pops up when you're not on it, folds down when you are and it even helps striping! Maybe I should get one for the Toro! LOL:)

i do not see how a skid plate could be good for a lawn. It slows the mower by putting al the friction on the soil. And also you cant use it across cement. The bottom of the velke that i use wears away quikly and i cant imagine if that was rubbing all the time.
recomend anything w/ wheels but dont see a skid palte as being good.

We've used a proslide on one of our wb's for a season now and have had no problems with it. The guys that use it both weigh less than 150# though. The other guy weighs over 200# and we ask that he not use it just for the strain on the tranny. Although I weigh over 250# I test drove it on a couple of lawns to see how it worked and had no problems. I have seen no detrimental effects on any of the lawns and yes it does a very nice job of striping.
LM5k, we don't cut many drives or sidewalks so I can't tell you how it would hold under those conditions. Seriously, when you come to a walk you just step off and then step back on.

I have a pair of Jungle Wheels on my Husky/Kees 48 gear drive. I really like them. I a little painful when they are up and I hit a bump. (pinches your hand between the wheel and the grip)
I paid $200 for the set at my local dealer.

Anything you can buy to make it easier on youa nd your employees is a good investment. I use Velkies on my turf tracers and I am happy with them. I personally do not like the idea of the proslide, but thats just my opinion. A velkie or anything along those lines is a necessary, MORE SPEED, and easier work. Enough said!!!

I hate standing on wheels but if i had to i would choose the type of velke(not jugle wheels) that does not jacknife when backing up. The kind that is permanently mounted straight onto the back of the mower.

I use the ProSlide and can't say anything but good about their product! Unlike the wheeled sulkys this thing glides right over indentations and holes. No more jammed thighs or twisted ankles. I run all Hydros so a fixed sulky is needed.
LawnMaster: I do not see any detrimental effects of my use of the ProSlide. If anything it leaves nicer stripes. You don't have to deal with additional tire marks and the pressure is minimal. It is spread out over almost 4 square feet. As for concrete...I go on it from time to time, but you're not mowing concrete are you? I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sulky!

It sounds like Velke`s two wheel is a whole lot better because of it not jackknifing like the jungle wheels do.Isn`t there downsides of the velke? Why would jungle wheels keep making theirs if it was`nt any good? What are other good things about the Jungle Wheels that the velke does not have or do?

I think it comes to personal preference. What you feel comfortable using all day long. The whole jacknife thing isn't that big a deal. If you jacknife, just get off it and use your foot to pick it up and straighten it, its not hard.

Thanks for the input, guys. I went ahead and ordered a pair of Jungle Wheels off ebay today. I talked to a friend locally and he says any experienced rider can handle backing up with ease once you're used to it. He also told me that compared to the other sulkies, Jungle Wheels is the only one with an adjustable arm and the rear weighted design to keep the front end of the mower from bouncing. I'll let you know what I think after I've used them!

I agree about the jacknife thing not being such a big deal its just the discomfort of having to stand all day that gets to me.

Better than walking or having the mower handles be flying left and right in front of you.
