Lawn Boy- Cant pull cord

I have a 21' silver series pro 6.5 HP push mower. I am having this problem at times. When I go to start it it is locked, and I cant pull to start. I have to go under and push the blade to free it up. It is not stuck on anything or hitting anything. It is locked up. Any suggestions?

Sounds like either your blade brake or your cable to safety bar is broken.

Or the needle and seat is leaking in the carb and flooding so bad that it is hydrolocking

I have noticed that there is a lot of gas shooting out when I start it, can this be related? I guess this has started this season. I guess I should bring it in for repair work.

yep i would say the carb is stuck filling the cyl. with fuel
