Would you hire a H.S Student? if the perosn had the required spray licence

I probably would. I mean the person couldn't go out on their own due to regulations, but there are times when a second person is needed.

In Michigan, you must be 18 to aquire a certification. This is for sure. As far as for other duties, I couldn't afford the insurance, as it is not legal for minors to operate power equipment. This is what I am told.

No, I would not hire a high school student. Just because you must be 18 years old to run power equipment in Illinois. I wouldn't have much use for someone that wasn't able to perform all tasks.

well DCLS i just got hired by one of the largest landscpaers in the chicago market. i am certified by the state i have my for and not-for hire appilcators licence with right of way and ornamentals. i thought it was odd but i figure take the run for whaty it is worth. i didnt out and out tell him i wasnt 18 but my licencve and birthday are correct .... i figured he had to ofd run it by the insurance man before hed of offered me a job . but what the he#$

Well Alex, I wasn't really commenting on Pesticide Apps. I was talking about using power equipment. See in Illinois there is a law that you must be 18 years of age to operate power equipment. If this employer is letting run any kind of power equipment, he is breaking the law. If you were to get hurt his butt would be grass.

but a 17 they are willing to pay me a $11 an hr.. they didnt ask my age i didnt tell them it all correct on the paper work so i am going to take it for as long as i can

Are you a technician or an apprentice? Over here it's 18 to be a full fledged applicator, 16 for an apprentice, and 17 for a tech.

i have my il applicators licence. and i am a spray tech as far as i know i will have my own truck as soon as they fix the pump. right now we have been doing a lot of owner associations so its me and another guy with 300 gal each truck mounted sprayers. and another guy pulls a 150gal toro sprayer with a 18ft boom and 2 ride on perma-green supremes and 600gal water tank. thats are normal set up for weeds right now. for the 2nd rnd of fert we will each have a route
