I've been meaning to ask you this ? for some time...sometimes we get in a hurry or just get braindead from working too many hours like this spring..so...how many of you have zoomed off the trailer, zoomed onto the turf, turned the blades on and 5 or 10 or minutes later or longer realize you forgot to lower the deck from the transport position. Last week I did it a couple of times!!...what a moron!! I have to laugh at myself for being such an idiot. Hope I'm not the only one to do this occasionally...if I am, I might need some medication!..lol

LOL!!!!:D :D

It has happened to me also. I will be mowing and realize that it is cutting extra good in the thick long grass, and after some time realize and look at the numbers on the side of handle that raises the deck, it is in transport position... :dizzy: :dizzy:

Gar

I can count on one hand (and have a couple of fingers left over) the number of times in the last 9 years of cutting that I have left some area of a lqwn uncut. Day before yesterday (Thursday) I did it 3 times on 3 different lawns...duh. Good thing I have great help that pointed it out to me LOL.

same here, it happens. Try mowing greens at a golf course before lit isd light out side only to find out on your 6th green your reeels are not coming on. That was fun.

I've hopped out of the truck and started cutting the WRONG yard once, ....ok...twice. And once or twice I've kinda zoned, and went way over into neighbors yard, just cutting away. They come out with a puzzled look on their face, and then it all becomes clear to me, and I embarassingly wave and ask how low they want it. lol

Bordering a lawn the other day, I raise deck to go over a root.... and apparently forget to put it down...... i was only 1/4 of the way around when I did it, and didn't realize until I had bordered everything and got back to that spot.......
wow... felt stupid.......

Then I mow across the street and do the exact same thing again.....

wow... felt reallly stupid:help:

try hydro seeding a yard and realising when you get done that the seed is still on the back of the truck and that you forgot to put any in the tank.

there is one property in particuluar that i sometimes forget a portion on cause its so big. i usually realize it when i park the machine and think "hmm, i made good cutting time on that today" then as you're trimming notice a large section of uncut grass.

I've never forgotten to lower the deck on the Grasshopper, but for some reason I've forgotten twice with the Gravely this year. I caght the mistake only after a few feet.

I have yet to forget to lower the deck but the help is always doing it and another popular one is to save fuel by not running full throttle, thats always a good one for embarrassment since usually I'll walk over to the mower and reach down on the throttle and crank it up for them while I'm doing the trimming. Just goes to show how spacey alot of people are when they work this industry.

Been there done that. But have you ever put your blades on upside down? Did it about ten years ago. Did two of the three made a couple of passes and said what the **** took a while to figure it out.

Done that before, had my ear protectors on before I brought the mower to the lawn and didn't realize the difference in the sound of the mower when the blades were/weren't engaged. Noticed it on my first pass back.

Concerta works for me. I mess up a lot less when I'm on Ritalin.

I've never forgot to lower my deck, but I have forgotten to do certain parts of the yard. I realized it when I did the weedeating though. I did it just last week. But get this, I realized it right when my customer in a very exclusive neighborhood was complimenting my work and asking me to give him a bid on some common ground in his subdivision. I told him I would be with him as soon as I'm done and then got my turf tracer back off of the trailer and finished up. I don't even think he even noticed. Oh well..... what kind of medication was that again?:D

You mean you've actually been able to cut your lawns during this monsoon? :p

I did it today with my Laser HP.

I got to thinking there should be some sort of indicator light on the machine for people like us. Then I got to thinking about all sorts of other cool switches to install. Lights, radio, nitrous.

Its been a long, long day.

My signature bonehead move is stopping, put the machine in stop, forget to lock one the ecs handles, return and depress the safety levers, put it in gear and have it start doing donuts in the yard. Of course I'm not smart enough just to let go so it'll shut down, I hang on like a dog who someone is trying to take his bone away.

I've been realy bad lately, we've been so busy that I can't remeber what the heck i'm doing because I have 8 million things on my mind. A couple weeks ago I had 2 crews doing mulch jobs and I was running laods out to each crew and trying to do estimates and make phone calls and stuff in between. One crew was doing 20 yards and one was doing 15, so one of the loads I pulled into the nursery and I just stopped the truck and I had to think for a second "where am I and what and I doing?". I had so many things on my mind that I couldn't even rember what I was physically doing. I've done that king of thing alot lately to.

Yep!!!! I know the feeling done it a couple of times, and one time when the owner was watching. I just looked at her and laughed. It was my last cut of the day and I was trying to hurry. She gave me a Miller and said IT"S MILLER TIME!!! I agreed with her 100%. ;)

I just got a Sentar and I have never had to lower the deck on any of my mowers before. Well now I have been trying to remember to lower the deck on the Sentar. Three times I have for gotten and made a pass or two before I realize it. On the other hand the grass has been growing so much with all this rain that even when the deck is raised it cuts a nice smooth lawn. Little high but looks good. I just start over and do it at the right height. Oh well I will get used to the mower soon I hope.:)

I too have had a recent rash of making a pass or two with the mower deck up in transport position. I'm thinking..."wow this stuff is mowing easy!" only to look down and notice it. I've also put the mowers up only to figure out I missed a section of the lawn a couple of times too.

So far, I've only left it in "transport" position once, but then I've only had the Lazer for 2 months. It migh be a little embarassing, but look on the brite side. You could have mowed it lower than normal and you can't do that over, right?

Ya know its going to be a pain when you mow a lawn, its long as heck, you think to yourself "man that grass grew".....then you realize the deck is all the way up.....:(
