Dave, I appreciate the dedication you have for your job. I think it takes a special person to go out and fight a fire knowing the danger that it holds. Thank you.....

Did you hear the news last week about the shooting in the Fayette, Alabama police department? An 18 year old was being booked on stolen vehicle charges in the early morning hours when he got the gun of an officer, shot and killed the officer that he took the gun from, another officer and the dispatcher.
One of the officers I knew personally through my full time job. He lost his life doing what he loved. Protecting his community.....
Be Safe and God Bless.......

I agree with rookie, while my time here hasn't been long I learned from each and every one of your posts.

Swing back in sometime just to give some updates.

I wish you and yours well.

Well Dave, thanks for all of the info you've provided. I know it's tuff to do (i have a 9 y/o and 12 y/o). Luckily for me, I'm so low on the seniority list, the only engine I can draw only has an average of 4 runs a day! We had 3 guys get caught in a flashover last week...:( They're ok, 1st and 2nd to the face, but who wants to go thru that?!! Squadies on the 2nd floor w/o a line doing a search. Someday I'll have the seniority to get there. Drop me a line if you ever get to this area, I'll show you around. Take care of you and yours brother...

I think Dave has left the building. Good Luck, and best wishes to you and the family.

For some reason I think you will be back though....its in the blood!

Jimbo;)

P.S. If your like me and find yourself looking at everyones lawn, making comparisions of your work vs theirs, etc. YOU ARE OFFICALLY SCREWED. YOUR ADDICTED. NO REASON TO FIGHT IT.

Thanks all..... I will miss working on lawns, I really will. Like Jimbo said "It's in the blood." I can not drive down the road and not look for stripes, or rubber neck at trailer to see what kind of equipment they have. I might talk to a LCO and see if they ever need some to help out in a pinch every now and then I can be available.

I will be in and around to leave my 2 cents on a few treads. I am not an expert by any means, but I have come a long way by learning from everyone hear on Lawnsite and by my many mistakes from doing.

Thanks again!!!

Dave

Hey there... just stopping bye to say hi to everyone... if there is still anyone left...

I'm doing well....

I thought about this site the other day after a man stopped by my new house and asked if he wanted his company to cut my lawn.

This company (ER Exteriors) had been cutting my lawn before I moved in (house has been empty for a while). I'm not totally moved in yet so I said yes and figured maybe one or two more cuts this year. He said he thought that's all there would be. I write a check to him/company for this cut. He had a bagger system on his ZTR and didn't pick up the leaves, just the grass and chopped the leaves into the grass. I didn't say anything, however I know I won't use this company next year if I don't buy any lawn equipment for next year. I wish they all cared like I used to. Maybe he was pissed that I just wanted one or two cuts.... (shrug)

That is all.... Hope everyone is doing great!!!

Hey Dave how is it going? Its been a while. I'm still in the business and working the FD too. 3 kids to send to college so I'll be in it a while. Are you keeping busy or are you looking to get back in and be real busy? Do you test for engineer or do you guys go to Lt. I would imagine you are getting close. Stay safe and nice to hear from you again.

MOW ED!!

Things are going great.... I couldn't be happier.

Things are going great at the FD, we are trained from day one as engineer since we work alone.

Bought a new house in Oxford on Lake Mickelson.

Getting married in June or July....

I just wanted to vent about the LCO that cut my grass... first time impression from them and I wasn't impressed. I was also looking for some info on a Poulan Pro ZTR.

I don't know if I need to spend the money for an Exmark rider just for home, however I miss my Exmark. Just looking for options and maybe to find a LCO to do my yard next year.

I got a feeling you'll be back one day. At least partime. But good luck.

It will be like a gambler passing a casino or a drunk passing a bar, you'll find yourself back (partime anyway) one day.
