I was talking with a friend today about what she gets to cut a lawn near here. The lawn takes the two of us 1:20 to only mow, and that's leaving out about 2,500 sq. ft. due to the fact it has been wet this whole year. We use a 72" ride on mower, and a 61" stand on mower. The nearest clients along the route are 10 and 15 minutes away, respectively. I would approximate the trimming of the whole property to take 8 man hours (we do not trim at this time). The client now wants a hill which leads down to a rock wall and tennis court mowed which is impossible to do. It would have to be string trimmed. That area is roughly 30' by 150'. The blowing takes about 15 minutes to do with a back pack blower for the whole place. Oh, and they get a lot of side jobs from this guy (digging, tree work, etc).

So... what would you charge for:

A) cut only:

B) cut lawn and trim hill by tennis court:

C) full cut, trim, blow:

I will let you know what the present rate is after a little while. I think you will all be shocked.

Wow, 8 hrs to trim. Sound a bit excessive. It must have a WHOLE lot of stuff to trim around or the estemate is high. I do many large places and none take near that long.
A. If two large mowes take 1hr 20min I would charge $2 min at least depending on difficulty.
B. roughly 1/2 hr. trimming time for hill, $30 to $40
C. $1 min per man hour, or price it by job after some figuring
Good Luck, sound a little bit like one of my jobs exept for the trimming part

There are several hundred trees, rocks, and stumps to trim around. Not to mention the pool, house, fences, walls, tennis court, etc.

Sounds like a quite a work out. I would bid at the rate of $1 a minute per worker rule or higher
