View Full Version : Unfinished cut down the center?

Mowing 12” high grass at 3.5” yesterday the Z-master was leaving a strip down the center of the middle blade cut area that was partially cut. The two outside blades were doing fine. Conditions were really wet. The grass was not of lawn type but a meadow that gets mowed a few times a year. Did not seem to matter how slow or fast I went or how high the deck setting was.
Any reason for this?
Would wrong deck pitch cause this?
my guess is the middle blade needs a little more torqe on the blade bolt.
its slippin, or possibly the belt is slipping on the middle pulley..

maybe there is some string or grass balled up on the center blade hub, causing it to leave a streak--just a tought

OK Your trying to cut a course grass at 3.5" that is 12" high.... Hummmmm trying to knock off 8.5" of grass will make any machine have issues especially if its' wet.. That is a situation where you will have to make multiple passes to produce a quality cut....

Yeah usually wet foot high grass will do that....Be glad ya didnt have 3 strips....Usually takes a couple of passes like Chris said when its that tall.

Finish mowers are designed to cut 1/3 of the grass growth efficiently. How do you expect it to handle 8.5" of growth in one pass??????
