Root barriers.

Bamboo specialty places sell the stuff - about 18" deep or more.

And tree or arborist supply stores have it - tree ones, bamboo ones, they are about the same.

Can come in a roll. Its thin and is sold by roll or by foot.

LOL I have not dealt with this problem myself. But I have heard from others that a concrete wall installed 4-6 feet deep might keep the bamboo from getting past ;) I wish I had known about that stuff to help the people who were discussing the problem with me before.

Short sections of culvert work well if round areas are desired.

A friend of mine has some and just keeps is mowed at the border and doesnt have a problem.

Chose your bamboo wisely. There are varieties such as Golden Bamboo, no matter what you do it will find a way to spread.

Was at a seminar 2 years back. It's scary to see what the wrong bamboo will do in the wrong spot. Saw slides where a concrete border as mentioned above was tried. The bamboo broke through and also went under.

There are nice clumping varieties, do some research before doing anything with bamboo.
