View Full Version : My New Toy - Lazer XP
06-18-2003, 03:04 PM
Just picked up my new Lazer Z XP with the 27 hp Diesel. :D
What an awesome machine. It is replacing a 6 year old Lazer Z 25 Kohler with over 2500 hrs. I can't say enough good things about the Exmark mowers we have owned. They have been very reliable and have helped improve our bottom line. Have yet to test the new machine on our lawns. I will post again when I get some hours on the unit and let you know what I think. So far I really like the suspension seat, I may not need my Chiropractor anymore:dizzy:

I second that! Keep it washed and waxed so it continues to look pretty!

Very nice - may I ask the price difference between the diesel and the largest gasoline model?

It looks like you almost needed to grease the sides of that trailer to get it in there!:)
Have fun getting it dirty! Looks great

that is a beautiful machine.
I only see one tie down. do you use more than one?
06-18-2003, 06:58 PM
why would you buy a diesel, when a gas burner will make as much money for thousands less.....i almost did the same thing,
just could not justify the cost......
06-18-2003, 07:03 PM
lawnrangers, why did you buy the diesel dodge when the gasoline costs $4k less and does the same work?
06-18-2003, 09:04 PM
One reason. a diesel will last 4 times longer then a gas ;)

is that a 60 or 72" machine?

Cut a few yards with her today. She's so tight :) nothing like a brand new machine.
The cut is great. Throws clippings really nice. Engine is smooth and feels strong. That is good because I usually go for the most HP when buying eqt. and the diesel was 4 ponys less then the gas motor. XP models have a larger hydro pump and motors, you can feel (and hear) the difference. There's no hydro whine when you make turns. I have to say...the BEST improvement is the suspension seat. That is one smooth ride.
Getting a striping roller next week. I'll get some pics up after I get the roller on.
The price between the gas and the diesel was nearly the same in the XP model.

ditto what harryd said,i also use it for a lot of pulling,tractors,etc..
and still get great fuel milage...18-20 mpg.. loaded or empty

lawnrangers, yah, i was being semi-sarcastic. i do one lawn with a diesel kubota (weird, i know, don't ask). It's got gobs of torque, i'm debating dropping the extra cash for a diesel ZTR when my time comes.
I know i'm 110% positive i'm getting a powerstroke truck in a few weeks.

no harm taken::,youll love the powerstoke, my dad has one.i bought the cummins;more torque better fuel milage.cant go wrong with either one

hope you have better luk than my boss had today. that same machine has broken down twice this week and the factory is sending him a new one. hopefully we just got a bad unit, i know exmark is a name to be trusted.....right gamba?

A friend of mine has the exact same one, only his is a 2002 with the small fuel caps.
He really likes the cut of the 72" deck, he says it cuts better than his 52" and 60"ers.
But one thing he's real upset with is the power. :( Going up a hill mowing 7" tall thick grass it really starts to bog. Let me know if yours is similar. I see your comparing it to a '97 60" Gasser with a few hours on it, so maybe you'll be OK with the power. Sure wish they'd offer it with the turbocharged version w/31hp and a LOT more torque.
My biggest problem with Diesel ZTR's is that the engine will FAR outlast the mower. Every mower I got, when I get upwards of 1000 hrs on it, the mower itself is WELL worn and all bushings and pins are real loose. I attribute this to trailer time!
BTW, the roller would be a real nice addition to yours! It will act as one giant antiscalp roller!
