View Full Version : Where can I find a really cheap trailer?

I need a trailer for my lawn care that is at least 5 feet wide. I need to be able to fit a 50" mower in it so a typical 4X8 won't work. I don't really care how long it is, just 7-9 feet. I need to keep the length down some though to keep it small.
I just need to find the cheapest 5 by something I can find. Where should I look?

In KY you just have to look around for an independent that sells them. I have a 7 by 16 trailer. If I was to buy one that size from Lowes or Home Depot it would cost over 1,000 bucks. Most independents sell the same size trailer for around $600.

Since your in Tyler you don't have to look far. Just look up Horse Creek Trailers in cookville. they made ours and they are not very expensive and built great.

How much do you think they'd run for a 5x8?

Last month, I bought a brand new 6.6'x10' for $750. It was made by a local trailer builder. I bought it at the same dealer that sold me my Toro WB. He originally wanted $850, but I was able to get him to take $750 for it. The trailer includes a hinged rear gate/ramp, side marker lights, and wood floor. 5x8 trailers here usually go for $500-$600 dollars depending on where you get them. One dealer in particular near me wanted $700 for a 5x10. Hope this helps.

Keep checking the Thrifty Nickel and the newspapers, especially the Dallas paper. A used one will probably be your best bet at a cheap one made well. A really cheap new one is usually cheap for a reason. One person I know has really good prices on new trailers is Pull-do in Emory, not too far from you. Another thought is to talk to a welding school about making one for you.
