What is the reason for your choice?

Just want to get off the beatin path a minute and change the usual monotiny.

On a serious note, how could upcoming the presidential election affect our industry?
Seems to me, Gore being a tree-hugger and someone who believs internal combustion engines are evil incarnated I think he might not help the greens industry too much.

Hmm kind of tough...Gore wants no combustible engines that, could effect us...heck he wants to get rid of two-cycle for sure...Both are politicians so what they say usually means something else (I hate politicians) Flip a coin...BUSH

Looks as though that I am not going against the grain here when I say George W. Without a doubt. It bothers me of what we could expect with a Gore administration. Just look at the things that the EPA has done and is subjest to do in the future. While I couldn't help to notice a negitive attitude concerning both Bush and Gore, to me it is so very important that regardless of how you feel, that you get up and GO VOTE. We need to excercise that right, or one day we may wonder how we lost it..

Harry Browne.........When one votes for the lesser of two evils one guarantees evil will win!

turfquip
10-01-2000, 01:44 PM
Gus is right. Harry Brown is the only candidate I would consider. Bush - Gore, a nickel's worth of difference between the two. And borrowing from our friend GrassMaster..."THATS A FACT JACK!"

It's easy to vote Bush because your daddy does, or you perceive or have been told the republicans are good for business.

Look, this country faces some serious issues..the war on drugs for one is a rediculous scam that keeps our jails full of pot smokers while serious offenders are released prematurely.

The democrats war on tobacco use is yet another example of government interference into our personal lives. Folks, it ain't gonna stop.

Government is too big - too obtrusive, and BOTH mainstream candidates...despite what they say...are for bigger government. Just listen carefully as each panders to special interest - promises to do this, do that. What are they going to do it with? More government of course.

And don't let ANYONE tell you that a vote for a third party candidate is a wasted vote. That's total nonsense. A person who doesn't vote is a wasted vote.

No, Harry Brown will not be elected this year. But a vote for Harry Brown will send a clear signal that the tide in America is beginning to turn and that maybe, just maybe the libertarians will retain the inspiration to continue the good fight...plowing forward....hopefully to make a difference in 2004.

I will be voting Libertarian in November. I would encourage other, rational thinking members of this forum to join me.

Off my soap box now.

Gore, only because I can't stand that baby face Bush - even if he is from TX. It just seems that Gore is slightly more in touch with reality and Bush seems to be in a dream world. They are both awful though. I wish we had a better choice.

Bush for me too. Again,, the lesser of known evils. I tend to think that anyone smart enough to do the job is also smart enough to know they don't want it. The Presidency can only be won by a career politician who has massive party support. That, in itself, assures that only somoen with a major ego would go for the position.

Bush is not even qualified to be prez. The man is as dumb as a box of rocks. You will get a good tax cut with bush if you make over 100000$$$ Bush wants to drill for oil in the only pristine part of alaska left. Even though they have had over 500 spills in the rest of alaska. We work in the enviroment so we should all want to protect it.
I think they should pay down the 5 trillion$$$$ national debt instead of giving all these tax cuts. And instead of spending increases.
For lack of a better man.
Gore is the next prez

I agree with Charles. On the tax issue, just how many of you guys pay more than 28% of your income (to the IRS). Bush wants you to pay no more than 33 1/3%. That won't affect me and I doubt if it will affect too many of us on this forum. As for the gun issue, Slick Willie was going to go to your homes and get all of your guns (right). I've still got mine.On the gasoline engine issue, there will probably be some regulation ening eventually, no matter who gets elected. Just my thoughts.

"BUSH BUSH BUSH! Less taxes less government!!!"

ROFL !!! LOL!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!!!

Reagan and Bush gave us bigger federal budgets, bigger government and (quietly) big tax increases after they gave us tax cuts (lots of chest thumping).

There's a big new government building full of bureaucrats named the Ronald Reagan Building.

Ronald Reagan submitted bigger budgets than were passed by the Democrat controlled Congresses.

The current Republican Majority Congress is right now RIGHT NOW working on passing a bigger federal budget than Clinton is asking for.

"On a serious note, how could upcoming the presidential election affect our industry?"

If it results in a recession, all those unemployed construction workers are gonna be lowballing your mowing jobs with 21" crapsmens trying to keep up with their mortgages and credit card debts.

I'd say stay the course. Democrat president. Republican Congress. Gridlock keeps them out of our lives.

Prosperity is freedom.

First of all, the current administration has nothing to do with the economy. This was due to many factors long before their arrival. They have no policy on many things.

Secondly, we better get back to exploring for oil in our own homeland. The way it is now, the arab nations control us. Why do you think we fought desert storm? If the arab nations decided to cut us off, we are all out of work. No gas for cars, machines, heat, fuel, etc. everything we have has oil somewhere involved in its process.

We had smaller gov't when Reagan was in office. Bigger military but smaller gov't. Passed power back to states where the constitution says it should be.

Less taxes. Well, I don't really think without some serious shake up that this will ever happen. But even if the rich get the tax cut, that just means more rich people for us to work for. That is the people we service most.

I do agree in the present state of politics in America, the only people that can be elected president is a career politician. These people are a joke when they try to portait knowing what the people want. They have been so far from reality. The problem is that the govt doesn't fear the people anymore. That is why the govt was originally set up like it is. So that no one group or party had control. Washington was never intended to be a booming city. The founding fathers saw govt service as just that, gov't service to do and get back home to their lives. The presidency or the congress were never intended to be careers for men and women.

My comment has made many remakes. Many good. For those who say Bush will raise taxes, you are crazy. Clinton just denied the law to get rid of estate taxes. This affects all of us. Maybe not estate taxes but what about self employment taxes. Even worse environmental problems. Gore is a idiot. He probably wants us to start using electric lawnmowers. He will be the one to say two cycle engines ruin environment and screw up our engines more by controlling manufactures more. Bush will help small business owners Gore will ruin us!!!!

BOY AM I GLAD SOMEONE POSTED ON THIS AGAIN; I WAS GETTING READY TO.
BUSH IS THE LESSER OF THE 2 EVILS; BUT THE BIGGEST REASON IS.........
IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR 2 CYCLE EQUIPMENT, PLUS ATV'S, DIRTBIKES, ETC. & 4WD OFF ROADING, YOU BETTER CLAMOR THE POLLS AGAINST GORE.
IF YOU WANT TO KEEP A GUN IN YOUR HOUSE TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY AGAINST CRIMINALS WHO DON'T REGISTER OR LEGALLY OBTAIN GUNS, YOU BETTER NOT VOTE FOR GORE.
The economy will go up & down no matter who is in the hot seat, but Gore's backers are part of the gun haters lobby & actually think they know whats best for us better than we do. It's already started in California; all they need is to get Gore in the white house & there goes your freedoms- no more guns, no more 2 cycle ANYTHING, etc. etc. etc. If you think it won't happen, you better wake up.

And to geogunn- I remember: "I never had sexual relations with that woman", signing NAFTA & sending our jobs to Mexico when they said Bush was gonna do that, giving queers in the military special treatment, & shutting down alot of our military bases & forces. How's about them apples? :)

At least you guys don't have to vote if you don't want to.
I just got a $180 fine for failing to vote. Over here it's
mandatory. You're right about the two main candidates there.
We see Gore and Bush here fairly regularly on the news.
They both look hopeless. How did Gores wife get the name
"Tipper"? Over here a tipper is a dump truck, not a woman.

BUSH

Reasons why..

1. Less government...O.k. Gore wants to put guns in the hands of the government. Just like the 2 bitc#$ in California (Boxer and Weinstein). When we start to register guns, then the governmet has total control of them and can make us turn them in just like Great Britain. It is a know fact that crime gets higher without guns to protect the common man. Only criminals will have guns.

2. Mr. Gore will say anything to get elected. Remember when he went to south carolina and told the people there ,while shaking his head like a southern african baptist preacher "there is something wrong here, there is something wrong here" If that don't sure up the black vote, then what will. Who the hell is gore, to tell the people that the flag of the south meant racism. To many, that flag meant southern pride, (NOT SLAVERY).

3. Respect. I can't vote for anybody that sits on their duff while there compadre commits felonies. YES, Clinton committed adultry. That is not what I mean. I am happy to hear that our President is sexually active, but he did not lie about it to protect his family (Sorry ,wrong answer). Do you really believe that he really cared about the intern that he screwed. If he had gotten away with his cute little lie, Monica Lewinsky would have been a stalking, sick human being to us through the press (not that she is my all time favorite person). When you take an oath and promise to uphold it by putting your hand on the bible, you are in a sense telling the justice sytem that your telling the truth with god as your witness. AND, also I do firmly believe that Mr. Clinton did in fact rape Mrs. Juanitta Broderick. This was a close personal friend and NO the republicans did not put her up to it (The vast right wing conspiracy just doesn't fly in my book). How can you deny an allegation like that and look America in the face and tell them NO, though the facts of the case are strong, I DID NOT RAPE
THAT WOMAN.

4. The economy....How the hell can the last administration take credit for a booming economy. Does Alan Greenspan ring a bell. Don't any body remember the republicans "contract with Amercia". The Democrats fought the republicans tooth and nail over the economy and now that a president while in office wants to take credit for everything that went right, should just go back to Arkansas and hide under a rock (with Hillary, what the hell does she know about NY). Now Mr. Gore wants to take credit for the economy.

I guess they just don't teach common sense in college.

The Democrats made my choice easy.

WWWOOOOOOOAHHHH DOWN THERE SMITTY! I never said I supported GORE! I was just poking at chrisbolt over the Bush tax thing--hey! I'm surprised no one else caught it before me!;)

I remember NAFTA also but you gotta remember in all fairness that SLICK WILLIE didn't pass NAFTA by himself, the republican congress passed NAFTA and SLICK WILLIE signed it into law. they did the same thing with GATT! politicians are all in this, thick as thieves, all of 'em.

what scares me to death is if I eat a tomato, and I didn't grow it myself, I wonder if ti was fertilized by mexican human crap and will it make ne sick! IT'S DISGUSTING WHAT NAFTA HAS DONE TO WORKING AMERICANS! unless , of course, you work in the high tech industry and you sell computers to mexican farmers! (read this as WHAT A JOKE!)

personally smitty, at my age I wouldn't mind an occasional late night pizza and an intern. but the cigar thing...NEVER! I quit those back in 1987!;)

If any body cares about my politics, I'll line 'em out for you: I'm a God fearing, pistol packing, SUV driving, law and order-hang'em high person. I believe that what goes on behind closed doors between consenting adults needs to stay behind closed doors. rosie o'donnel make me want to puke! no one group of people should get preference over another. period! if you are GAY...no problem, just keep it out of my face and don't try to convince me that it's right. if you are gay and you touch me, I advise you to use the hand that you don't mind loosing.

I used to work in the environmental field and SMITTY'S right! if you love your 2 cycle engines, outboards, blowers whatever and GORE is elected, better buy 'em quick. in less than four years it'll be ethanol in every gas tank in the nation!

as for gun control--it's doubtful that GORE will even win in TENNESSEE. WHY? glad you asked! it's the DEMOCRAT stance on gun control! BUT YOU WILL NEVER HEAR ANYBODY SAY IT! IN 1994 WE SENT SENATOR JIM SASSER TO THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE OVER HIS SUPPORT OF THE CRIME BILL (GUN CONTROL BILL! HIS NEXT JOB WAS EATING NOODLES AND FRIED RICE IN PEKING AS AMBASSADOR TO CHINA! which was hilarious when the chinese tried to take over the compound!

rant over. good job smitty;) Ive been wanting to spout off about a few things!

Dittos to geo & sinclac.........
The reason a cigar was used is that Clinton has been quoted & actually believes that if you did not have intercourse, you have not cheated on your spouse or committed adultery. Which is why he's obsessed with oral sex or other "loopholes".
About programs & making the rest of us pay for "free benefits for all", etc., like the bumper sticker reads....
"If you think health care is expensive, wait until it's free!"
I make more $$ now, only cuz I'm self employed, but I'll be ding danged if EVERY FRIGGIN THING I BUY IS MORE EXPENSIVE NOWADAYS!!!!!!
Gas, insurance, real estate taxes, phone service, postage stamps, $1100 for a 18hp Briggs & stratton when I can get a 350 small block for $600! @$#%!*&! I would still like to see Rush Limbaugh run, but that's another story & can of worms.......

I can't help but notice all of the lesser of two evil votes. I would caution you to notice that almost everyone you know and almost everyone on this forum votes Bush. Yet he will likely lose. WHY???? Because the Govt. has control of everything, including elections. Don't think for a minute that Clinton hasn't had people killed for standing up against him. Gore will lose heavily at the polls but will be our next Pres. Why? Because much like Pres. Milosevich who lost; The ELECTIONS ARE RIGGED. I am not an anacharchist, but I am a REALIST. Get a Clue. We could have a 3rd party candidate but we as a society are too weak to vote for someone who make real changes. Good Luck in your life. Who do you REALLY WANT TO VOTE FOR????

Bobby

We all like money. However, as vp gore said, there are bigger issues at hand. Can we realy stand yet another administration with no ethical or moral standards?
What do you want your kids to learn? The end justifys the means? Nothings really right or wrong?
Nobody likes to be told what to do, but if we don't stop trying to errace GOD from our lives, we are going to pay a great price.
If you dissagree, move to Cuba, or maybe whats left of Russia. (no bible thumpers to bother you).
As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. And vote our conscience, not our wallet.
