Need some help on this one--

While mowing a customers front lawn yesterday, it was running over slightly discolored areas(paler green to yellowish in color) and was getting reddish/orange dust clouds coming out of the front of the mower. Will red thread fungus produce these clouds when it dries up? Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks for Your help---Mike

I have never seen that. Would think your passed the Red Thread stage.

Could it be that the area was very dry and the way the sunlight hit it gave it that color?

Rust

Yeah OK, I never see it though. And it would throw up a cloud as mckell is saying?

If so................good call...............and a good reason to sell the customer a better turf management program....

Thanks Guys for the quick diagnosis--you were right on!!! The pics on the web site accurately show the same thing that is happening on this customers lawn. She will be relieved that it is not a fatal infection. Thanks Again---Mike
